Come meet long timer Mary Sanderson. She has been at the shelter since 10/7/24. This is a long time for a pup to be in a shelter environment.

Mary Sanderson is a 2-year-old, 50-pound bundle of joy who is as friendly as she is playful. With her medium energy level, she’s always up for a game of fetch and absolutely loves toys. She walks well on a leash and has been dog friendly.

She is affectionate, well-behaved, and polite, making her a delightful companion. While she doesn’t seem to know many commands yet, she’s a happy and eager learner who would benefit from some training. With her loving personality and playful spirit, Mary Sanderson is ready to bring joy to her future family!

This week, our shelter is exactly at our target population—but as the weather warms up, intake numbers will rise. Some days, we see 30+ pets enter our shelter, and without adoptions or fosters, overcrowding becomes inevitable.

The only way to prevent this is YOU. ❤️ By adopting or fostering, you create space for another pet in need. Loving homes are always needed. Fosters are always needed.

These pups are struggling in the shelter and need a home—whether through fostering or adoption. Fostering an urgent dog gives them a second chance to decompress, receive home notes, and become more placeable for their forever family.

We Need Your Help!

Right now, we are 10 dogs over capacity at our shelter, and every dog placed in a home helps save another life. Some of our pups urgently need out due to kennel stress, and we’re doing everything we can to find them loving homes.

We’re open every Tuesday until 8 PM to give more people a chance to adopt or foster. Not sure if now is the right time to adopt? Fostering is a great way to help, whether short-term or long-term! We provide you with everything you need to foster with us.

Meet D’Barkus—a 10-year-old, 52-pound sweetheart with a gentle soul and a heart full of love. This charming senior is the perfect blend of mellow, affectionate, and easygoing. Recently, D’Barkus got to enjoy a weekend sleepover where he settled in like a pro, soaking up all the love and being described as “the gentlest soul.” He’s polite, calm, and happiest when he’s by your side.

D’Barkus is truly the whole package. He’s lived peacefully with other dogs, shown good manners around cat-savvy cats, and been wonderful with young kids. He walks beautifully on a leash, is non-reactive, and takes in the world with quiet curiosity.

Mostly potty trained, he’ll even let you know when he needs to go out. Plus, he’s a smart cookie who knows “sit,” “down,” and “wait.”

If you’re searching for a loyal companion to share gentle walks, cozy evenings, and plenty of snuggles, D’Barkus just might be your perfect match. He’s ready to spend his golden years surrounded by love—and a soft bed to call his own.

A huge thank you to everyone who came out to support our Shelter Dog Challenge! From the amazing vendors to our incredible fosters, this event wouldn’t have been possible without you. We’re thrilled to have found homes for some of our dogs and shared great moments together. We also honored Cheryl in every way we knew she would’ve loved. Cheryl Scheck meant the world to Lifeline. She was a dedicated volunteer, a tireless advocate for shelter dogs, and above all, an incredible friend and mentor. Cheryl played a vital role in helping adopters find their perfect match, offering guidance and support that made all the difference in keeping dogs in their forever homes.

Her passion for enrichment and playgroups helped transform the lives of so many dogs in our care. Though many may not know her name, Lifeline will never forget her impact. Her commitment to showing up for these dogs every day continues to inspire us.

Hi! I’m Bub, a 52-pound bundle of joy who’s 4 years old and ready to be your best friend. I’m all about fun, love, and making every day a little brighter. I’ve got a heart as big as my personality, and I’m looking for someone who’ll love me just as much as I’ll love them!

I’ve really enjoyed meeting new dog friends, so if you already have a furry buddy, I think we’ll get along just fine. I’m social, friendly, and always up for a playdate or two! Whether we’re chasing each other around the yard or just lounging side by side, I’m totally down for a doggie BFF.

At 4 years old, I’m in that sweet spot where I’m still playful but know how to enjoy the quieter moments too. I’m not a puppy, but I’m definitely not ready to slow down just yet. ✨ Another incredible week — thank you for showing up for these dogs! ✨

We’re 8 dogs below our target population of 375 — what an amazing accomplishment. Running an open-intake shelter comes with its challenges, but week after week, our community shows up, supports us, and helps us lower our numbers.

While some dogs are still struggling with severe kennel stress, this progress allows us to focus on providing them better care and more enrichment while they wait for their chance to be adopted.

UPDATE: ADOPTED!

Hi there! I’m Scholar, a 1-year-old, 63-pound bundle of energy and excitement! I might look like I’m ready to study for a degree in fun, and guess what? I totally am. I’m all about action—whether that’s zooming around the yard, making new doggy friends (I’m great with other dogs, by the way!), or learning new tricks. I know the basics like "sit" and "stay," but I’m pretty much always down for more learning if you’re up for it!

I’ve got a lot of energy to burn, so if you're looking for a dog who will keep up with your active lifestyle, we’re a perfect match. I’ll happily join you on hikes, jogs, or just running circles in the backyard (I’m great at that, too). After all that exercise, I’m more than happy to crash and cuddle for a bit—just don’t expect me to stay still for too long.

So, if you want a fun-loving, playful, and social pup who’s always up for an adventure, let’s team up! With me around, your life will always be filled with wagging tails, happy paws, and maybe even a few well-timed "sit" commands.

Managed by LifeLine Animal Project, Fulton County Animal Services provides a humane environment for Fulton County’s homeless pets while enforcing the animal control laws of Fulton County, GA. We also provide other services such as veterinary care for our animals including spay/neuters, pet adoptions, pet reclaims, volunteer programs, foster home programs, rescue group coordination and other life-saving programs.

LifeLine Animal Project helps prevent unwanted pet litters through low-cost spay/neuter, helps make pet care affordable through low-cost and free vaccine clinics, saves the lives of special needs shelter animals through our rehabilitation facility, and saves feral cats through our trap-neuter-return program. As the managing organization for Fulton County Animal Services, LifeLine is making Atlanta a lifesaving community.
