Holiday cheer is in the air—but let’s keep it safe for our pets!
Festive decorations, twinkling lights, and shiny ornaments can all be hazards for curious pets. Think climbing cats and toppled trees, or a pup chewing on light cords.
Decorations aren’t the only concern. Holiday plants like mistletoe, holly, and poinsettias are toxic to cats and dogs. Stick to faux greenery or keep them out of reach.
Holiday treats can be tempting for pets, but many seasonal foods like chocolate, raisins, and latke are dangerous.
Check out this full guide on holiday pet safety—because festive fun is better without an emergency vet visit! 🐶❤️ https://pbxx.it/ly2iUo

This story touched our hearts. My mother, Dr. Linda Bryant referred Ambassador Andrew Young and his wife Mrs. Carolyn Young to Tuskegee University’s College of Veterinary Medicine for an extensive surgical procedure for his dog. Upon arriving, he and his wife were treated like absolute royalty (as they should be) which Dr. Bryant was instrumental in ensuring. Dr. Bryant was thrilled to learn from the Young Family that her veterinary college treated such an instrumental Civil Rights force-one of the main reasons many of us have rights today-so incredibly well. I remember as a child Mrs. Jean Childs-Young and Ambassador Young were clients since the 1980s, giving my brother and I a quarter (Mrs. Jean Childs-Young) or a $1.00 (Ambassador Young) for helping them take their pet supplies to their vehicle. I have to say we loved seeing them both, and seeing Ambassador Young has always been a proud moment. They have been one of the many treasured clients Dr. Bryant has had over the decades. The story once told, was a gift 🎁, one better than any gift ever received. My mother Dr. L. Bryant (AKA 🩷 💚) and my father, Dr. C. Bryant (Alpha) were the first couple to graduate as a husband and wife team from Tuskegee University’s College Veterinary Medicine. Mother and father were Army Captains who practiced here in Atlanta, at Ft. McPherson. So many things were made possible by Ambassador Young and other Civil Rights Activists. We salute 🫡 Ambassador Young and we appreciate his unending efforts for our people to have equity in a world that at times made it nearly impossible.🙇‍♀️ Mrs. Carolyn Young is an avid animal lover, one who Dr. Bryant speaks with often. We love her and the entire Young Family and are thrilled that they received such a warm welcome when visiting Dr. Bryant’s beloved alma mater Tuskegee University. Following the devastation of Hurricane Helene, ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance partnered with The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals® (ASPCA®), donating $25,000 to provide 216 dog houses for families in need. These shelters will offer a safe haven for pets whose usual indoor homes have been damaged by the hurricane.
In addition to building these dog houses, ASPCA® Pet Health Insurance is supporting customers affected by natural disasters like Hurricane Helene by extending grace periods, providing extensions for claim submissions, and more.
To date, the ASPCA® has helped over 15,000 animals through dog house building and additional relief efforts such as emergency shelters, pet supply distribution, veterinary care, reuniting lost pets with their families, and more. https://pbxx.it/jMjuhC

Though separation anxiety in dogs is often discussed, the conversation does not always focus on our feline friends. Cats are typically viewed as independent, so people often assume that they won’t mind being left alone, but the truth is, it’s not unusual for cats to experience separation anxiety. https://pbxx.it/qH1rXJ
