Kibble is considered an ultra processed food.

There are finally studies being conducted comparing the effects of ultra processed diets (and some of the toxic biproducts of their production) on canine health vs raw and minimally processed balanced diets. Looking forward to seeing the results!

I see the amazing results of fresh, balanced diets in cats and dogs all the time in my practice. Excited to have more veterinary science to confirm what the human medical field has known for decades.

Another example of western medicine slowly catching up to standards of care in functional/ integrative medicine. Antibiotics should be the last choice not first in most cases of diarrhea. Probiotics, prebiotics, appropriate diet and f***l transplants should be in every vet’s toolbox.

A balanced whole foods diet is equally important for our dogs and cats. I think in a few years (or perhaps decades🤦‍♀️) veterinarians will look back at our profession’s current preference for kibble diets as archaic.

Most people don’t realize how many of our drugs and medical therapies are derived from nature.

This is an interesting article about a veterinary oncologist who is injecting plant viruses into oral tumors in dogs to stimulate the dog’s immune system to attack and get rid of the cancer.

Researchers have seen promising results by injecting dog and mouse tumors with the cowpea mosaic virus. Now they’re aiming for a human trial.
