Today we are celebrating these two pups as they turn 2 years old! Dottie (known for her dotted ears) and Athena (known for her black ears) are biological sisters yet live with different families. These pups reunite at camp where they are the absolute best friends and they bring everyone the upmost joy. We hope these two have the best day ever! Happy Birthday Dottie and Athena!! We love you!!!
We are so excited to welcome our newest DVM to the Pack! Dr. Lia Gross is joining the Deer Creek Animal Hospital team in Phoenix, AZ, though she is originally from New Mexico! Dr, Gross graduated from Iowa State University College of Veterinary Medicine and has been practicing in a primary care veterinary setting for over 10 years. Outside of work, she enjoys hiking, traveling, and spending time with her husband Jordan and their three dogs - Kylee, Dante, and Chaos.

As temperatures rise, we are taking extra precautions to ensure the safety and comfort of all our furry friends. Here’s what we’re doing and what you can do to keep your pups cool and happy during this heat wave:
What We’re Doing at the Daycare:
Shorter Play Groups with More Breaks ⏰
We’re reducing the duration of play sessions and increasing the number of breaks so pups can rest, hydrate, and cool down.
Hydration Stations 💧
We’ve set up multiple water stations around the play areas to ensure constant access to fresh, cool water.
Cooling Treats 🐶🍧
Our team will be offering homemade dog-friendly popsicles to help keep the pups refreshed. These are made from safe, dog-friendly ingredients like chicken broth, and PB.
Recommendations for Pup Parents:
Avoid the Hottest Parts of the Day ⏰
Limit outdoor activities to early morning or late evening when temperatures are cooler.
Never Leave Dogs in Cars 🚗❌
Cars can heat up quickly, even with windows cracked. Avoid leaving your dog in the car at all costs.
Recognize Signs of Heatstroke 🚨
Watch for excessive panting, drooling, lethargy, vomiting, and uncoordinated movements. If you suspect heatstroke, move your dog to a cool place and contact a vet immediately.
Adjust Exercise Routines 🏃♀️
Reduce the intensity and duration of exercise. Try indoor play or training activities to keep them stimulated without overheating.
Protect Paws from Hot Surfaces 🔥
Asphalt and sand can become extremely hot and burn your dog’s paws. Test surfaces with your hand before letting your dog walk on them.
Grooming Tips ✂️
Regular brushing helps remove excess fur, and consider a trim for long-haired breeds!

Today is a very special pups 1st Birthday! Beans is a semi new addition to the camp crew but he stole the hearts of the staff on the first day he came to camp. Beans is loving, playful, squishy, and basically just a snuggle loaf of bread. We love him so much and can't wait to continue seeing him grow up! Happy Birthday Beans!

July 4th is around the corner, and while you may be looking forward to it, your pets are not. Many pets experience fear and anxiety that you may not even recognize. Whether you're traveling or having a party at home, we recommend boarding them. We can keep them safe and distract them with fun and activities. A lot of pet parents feel the same, and we tend to fill up fast. So, book early!
Due to the events of the F3 tornado that hit the Valley View & Sanger, TX area, the Animal Hospital on Milam Road's wonderful staff has gone out into the community & rescued many fur babies and brought them back into the clinic for shelter and care.
There are many pups that they have under their care as well as that have needed treatment. One of their lovely guests is named Willow & was found on the side of the road by a wonderful human & she has a broken leg & pelvis that needs an important extensive surgery! Funds will go towards Willow's surgery, vaccinations, medications, & other treated injuries! They also have some pups that have found their owners but will be staying at the clinic at no cost due to their homes being destroyed or them being hospitalized themselves that funds will go towards.

Join us for our current open enrollment classes!!
Basic Agility for Fun- A class designed to introduce you and your dog to the fun world of agility including jumps, tunnels, weaves and more! This class is great to build confidence as well as focus with the dog and handler and increase body awareness. This class is JUST FOR FUN!
Rally for All- Rally is an obedience game using 10-20 obedience signs in a sequence. Dogs take turns running the course. Focus on heel, position changes, stays, and handler focus. Must have CGC or basic obedience.
AKC Tricks- Want to have fun with your dog and wear them out too? Maybe get them a couple titles on the way? This class will allow you and your dog to work towards learning a wide variety of tricks for puppies and dogs of all ages. This class is also great for confidence building as well as handler engagement. Testing for titling is available.
Obedience- This course is for dogs who already have a basic foundation in training but would like to continue to practice their skills and add new obedience skills. Topics covered include leash walking, stay and place work, and working with controlled distractions.

Today is the precious Miya Kings 5th birthday! Miya is of the smartest and most skilled pups we have at K-9 coach! She loves to show off her athleticism everyday at camp. She is also up there for the attendance award as Miya has basically not missed a day of camp in about 4 years! Miya is loved by most dogs and is always down to play with someone in the yard. Despite her size, this lil pup is mighty and plays with whoever comes her way. Happy Birthday MIYA! We love you so so much!🫶🫶

Last week, in honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, Destination Pet’s field leaders participated in QPR Gatekeeper training and certification with none other than the incredible Dr. Mia Cary. QPR stands for “Question, Persuade, Refer” and is a data-driven and conversation-based way of supporting folks who are experiencing su***de ideation.

Prior to Destination Pet, Leviathan served as the Chief Financial Officer at Zulily, a leading e-commerce company within Qurate Retail, Inc. (NASDAQ: QRTEA). In that position, he was responsible for the finance function and the transformation efforts for Zulily and led it to a successful sale. Prior to that, Leviathan was the CFO at Qdoba Mexican Eats, Taco Bell and served as an Audit Committee Board Member for Smart & Final, where he helped lead a successful sale to Grupo Comercial Chedraui (BMV: CHDRAUI).
