Great news cat reunion story for your Friday.

A little Feel-Good Friday for you! šŸ’™šŸˆā€ā¬›

A few days ago, the Methuen Animal Control Officer trapped a stray cat with a wound on his head. We took him in, gave him vaccinations, deworming, and Frontline, and promptly named him Franklin. When we scanned for a microchip, we were thrilled to find one!

His chip was registered to a rescue, but a quick search revealed that the organization had permanently closed. Still, our staff took a chance and called the number listed, leaving a detailed voicemail in the slim hope that they might still have the original ownerā€™s information.

To our surprise, they called back the next day. As luck would have it, they did have the contact details!

When we reached out, the owner, Alex, was beyond thrilled.

Alex had adopted this cat back in 2015 as a kitten. In 2023, while he was away for several weeks, he left the cat with a trusted friend in Methuen. The kitty, who was used to being indoors and outdoors, pushed through a screen and escaped. Despite keeping an eye on lost pet listings and checking our website, Alex eventually lost hope. Caleb, as he was originally named, had been missing for 18 months.

Now Caleb has a new middle name: Franklin!

Our medical team treated his wound, which required debriding and sutures, and heā€™ll need to be quarantined at home for 45 days, away from the other cat Alex adopted in the meantime. Thatā€™s why heā€™s sporting a fancy donut collar.

When Alex and Caleb were reunited, there were tears, and Caleb recognized him almost immediately.

Yay for microchips and persistence!

Escaped cat found after weeks in Chicago snow. Celebrating 10-year reunion to Randy, Ray and Debbie.

"Praise for Kim Freeman of Lost cat finder. Shortly after midnight on Feb 10th my cat, Ray, slipped outside into the dark, cold night. He'd never done anything like this before. I was at my wit's end trying to find him and wasted a lot of time doing the typical old things. Thankfully, I found Pet Detective Kim Freeman, specializing in lost cats (www.LostCatFinder.com).

I downloaded her booklet/ video full of detailed advice, learned what I was doing wrong and more importantly, what to change to do next. She showed me how to think like a cat and made me aware of his predicted hiding phase.

When you're frantic and feeling helpless, Kim's info is exactly what you need: specific steps on the most effective method for your situation and how to prioritize.

I learned where he was likely to be, allowing me to concentrate my efforts. I learned what equipment to get and where to put it. The value of this is cannot be overstated.

Yet Kim's help goes way beyond that. Her commitment to her clients is amazing. After getting her a background profile of Ray I peppered her with so many questions every step of the way, trying to make sure I left no stone unturned. She patiently and promptly answered each one, no matter how many additional clients she was helping.

Moreover, her support and encouragement about how Ray could survive in terrible freezing winter weather, how to understand my cat's specific personality and what he might do, how to prepare for his breaking cover and how not giving up too soon is so important, all of this spurred me on when otherwise, all hope would have been gone.

I had doubts on whether I would ever see Ray again, but she kept me going and focused.

Bottom line, I followed her advice and Ray is home!

Her counsel was right on target despite all my worry and doubt.

The reason I got my lost cat found after 2 weeks in the dead of Chicago winter is Kim the Lost cat Finder. Had not had her help, I might never have seen Ray again."

WORDS CANNOT EXPRESS OUR GRATITUDE.

FOUND after 36 days - despite a pack of coyotes howling the night he went missing. South Michigan farm area with freezing weather, heavy snow, and zero sightings for weeks.

Another happy reunion thanks to help from the Lost Cat Finder and owner never assuming the worst. Here's the happy news from Lori.

HEā€™S HOME!! Poor baby is skin and bones and very agitated, but heā€™s home safe after 36 days!!!

Hereā€™s a photo of us. He was crying non-stop and upset if Iā€™m out of his sight too long.

He does not like that Iā€™m rationing his food per your booklet instructions on feeding a cat that has been starving. He was under 5 pounds when found.

Your idea that he was afraid to cross the coyote zone makes perfect sense. And the garage where he was hiding is the exact direction I heard the coyotes howling the night he went missing. Neighbors said heā€™d been in their garage at least 3 weeks.

He doesnā€™t have any injuries that I could see (beyond being very thin) His claws are all intact. I didnā€™t check the pads of his feet, but I will when he next wakes up.

Kim, Thank you for your guidance, advice, and steady encouragement throughout this stressful journey!

Lori

Nothing unusual on day missing, but I did hear coyotes howling close by that night when I went to the barn.

I live on a 10 acre hobby farm in a wooded area of the countryside and winter weather of SE Michigan on top of it. ... itā€™s been almost 4 weeks and the temps have been in single digits and/or below zero the past several days.

This morning there were fresh cat prints at the location Iā€™d been focusing on. So today I moved the camera over to focus on the original location, after smoothing over the tracks. Photos of all the prints I saw yesterday- critter central.

I felt a lot more hopeful after talking with you last night and seeing all of the fresh cat prints today!

Thank you, LostCatFinder.com

Kim, just wanted to say I got your lost cat kit when Mackerel got out and we found him! He bolted out after dark when it was 15 degrees. Your booklet helped convince me to stay optimistic and do the rigorous search from our house.
The search tips worked like a charm! He was in a gap under a house--and I was prepared. I got him out using your tips to lure slow and get him secure.

Thank you for the great advice and all you do.

Cat lost during camping trip treks 900 miles in the right direction

Rayne Beau, a cat belonging the Anguianos, disappeared into the woods during a camping trip to Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming. Two months later, they got a call from animal control in Roseville, California.

He was only about 200 miles from his home in Salinas.

A woman who saw Rayne wandering the streets fed him and gave him water until she trapped him and took him to the local SPCA.

The next day, the Anguianos drove to Roseville and picked up their cat who had lost 6 pounds.

"I believe truly that he made that trek mostly on his own. His paws were really beat up. Lost 40% of his body weight. Had really low protein levels because of inadequate nutrition. So he was not cared for," Susanne Anguiano said. The couple still doesn't know how their cat got to Roseville but believes he was trying to get home on his own.

3 legged kitty was found 4 miles away after 3 months missing! What an inspiring story of dedication and perseverance.

Seuss was adopted after her broken hind-leg was amputated. She was an indoor cat for 2 years, then one day, slipped out while owners were travelling. Their son didnā€™t realize she was missing until the next day, prompting the parents to fly home early. They searched for a week, but Seuss seemed to have vanished.

Desperate to find their special 3-legged kitty, the family hired a local K-9 pet detective with search dogs. Unfortunately, this 2-hour effort resulted in the dogs tracking circles around the block twice. Realizing they needed more help, the family turned to Kim Freeman, Lost Cat Specialist, for a long-distance coaching and advice.

During the Profiling Session, Freeman identified several clues to help form a targeted strategy. One clue was that the family had started a bathroom renovation the day after Seuss went missing. There were also roofers nextdoor and many contractors in the area.

The Lost Cat Finder plan & support gave the owners new ideas and renewed determination. After ruling out nearby garages and yards, they distributed flyers and hung dozens of orange posters. They even enlisted their realtor to feature Seuss in the monthly newsletter and launched a postcard mailer campaign to 3,800 homes.

All the extensive outreach finally paid off.

Someone nearly four miles away connected the dots. They had seen a B&W cat with three legs behind their home near a restaurant dumpster. Seuss had been surviving on the edges of a shopping center parking lot.

Turns out, the shopping center was home to a local Italian restaurant the neighbors visited often. And behind that restaurant was a dumpster for their food trash. Next to the restaurant: a contractors supply chain store. It all adds up to the probability that Seuss was accidentally transported by someone visiting the restaurant or possibly one of the construction vehicles from the neighborhood projects.
Emerging from a cubbyhole under a vehicle in a parking lot is scary, so she would have run for the corner bushes behind the dumpster.

Over time, Seuss migrated through the bushes by the dumpster into the quiet shady yards that backed up to the parking lot.
The breakthrough came when a kind person in the yard behind the dumpster started feeding her, assuming this little 3-legged cat had been dumped. One day, a visitor who had seen the many Seuss posters realized it was the same cat.
Once the call was made with the news, the two were able to herd Seuss into the garage until her owners could confirm it was really her. As soon as the family arrived, Seuss cried out and ran to them, bringing on lots of happy tears of joy and relief.

Even though Seuss had a microchip, it was Kimā€™s strategy to expand the search to cover the possibility of accidental transport that led to this reunion after nearly 3 months lost.

After such a long absence, the family said it felt unreal to finally have Seuss back home. At first, she was a bit tense with a new foster kitten in the house, so the owners again contacted Freeman again for advice on dealing with the friction. Once that was solved, Seuss was able to relax back to her usual easy-going self, sharing time at the table with her family. Seuss now spends most of her time in the family room watching and participating in group activities. At night, she snuggles in tight to her family, curled up as close as she can get.

The familyā€™s dedication, combined with the power of community and Freemanā€™s Lost Cat advice made this special reunion possible.

This lost cat - found cat case is a great example of how dedicated owners using strategic help from a lost cat expert can get even kitties who seem to have vanished back home.

Hereā€™s to Seuss, in hopes this tripod cat's story of survival and reunion will inspire many others for years to come.

Another lot orange cat reunion to share!

Kim, I want to let you know our sweet Baja is back home after we used your Lost Cat Kit to make a plan based on her curious Cat Type.

She disappeared out the front door 5 nights ago. We would not have been ready with your luring technique had you not recommended it so strongly.

At 2am, Baja appeared at the door then roamed around the house meowing. This morning, she settled down, has eaten twice and been very affectionate. I can tell she is super relieved to be home! Right now, she's passed out on her favorite chair.

Thanks so much for your help!

Gladys is home after 50 days lost. Here's the story from owner..."Kim, we found her!!!! I cannot tell you how elated we are! After weeks of no sightings, she was only a block away.

Hereā€™s what happened. Last night we went on our nightly walk. We had a trail cam plus Rosie, a stray cat whoā€™s been joining us in our search each night. As I was setting up, Rosie was howling and growling at a house across the street. My wife went over to see what the fuss was about. Near the bushes, she heard a faint meow. There was Gladys lying on her side in the grass. She was not moving. I heard my wife yell "I GOT HER I GOT HER!ā€

Poor Gladys was in bad shape. Her leg had gotten stuck through her collar. All that time under her arm had worn away the fur and skin. She was skinny and pitiful but so happy to see us.

We rushed her to emergency. I stayed with her until they had to sedate for X-rays. For an hour she just curled up on my lap and snuggled with me. The surgeon says they will need to close the wound and I'll take her back daily to change the bandages.

Thank you again for your guidance and support through all this. It was your booklet and our Zoom consult that really gave us what we needed to keep on looking and never give up.

I can only imagine what she went through to survive those 50 days. Extreme heat, thunder storms, crazy rain. Like you said, cats are amazing survivors.

You really helped keep us on track and keep the faith. Your approach was straight forward and very methodical and we can't thank you enough!

BTW: WDPaws is the brand of collar... and yes that's the one in the picture. It was supposed to be a break away collar but definitley failed.

Also, just yesterday I got a call from the city demanding I take all posters down... apparently it's a $75 fine per poster because it is considered littering. So now, I will happily be pulling them down and letting folks know we found her!"

Kitty found after evading detection for 6 days.

"AMAZING NEWS We found Billie Jean last night after 6 days of being missing!!!!!

I want to detail how great your tips and e-book were. We made the radius map and started documenting what we already knew about each address - backyard features like decks, sheds. We'd already gone door to door days ago, handed out flyers, asked them to check and keep an eye out. This time, around 6 pm, we asked if WE could get dirty and search their property ourselves. Everyone was completely fine with it even though we were knocking on their door for the 3rd time in a week.

On the 4th property of our search last night, we checked a garage that the neighbor had already checked himself.

I had my flashlight and was on the ground checking underneath appliances when I saw a grey/white flash fly across the room and under a car My heart started RACING and I immediately had someone block the entrance and braced for whatever it was (cat? raccoon?). As I was beginning to check under the car, we spotted our cat high up on a platform at the top of the garage. She had leapt up there without making a sound (such a ninja).

We made eye contact, I yelled quietly ITS HER ITS HER ITS HER a million times! Although she seemed to recognize our voices, it took another 30 minutes after that: I had to stand on a car, but luckily I remembered to bring the smelly food with me to coax her close. Finally, I was able to grab her, hold her like a football, cover her eyes, and run across the alley to our home!

Funny enough... We had walked by that garage at least 100 times yelling her name, shaking treats, listening at the garage door, and the neighbor had done his own check the day before. She was full on in the silence mode.

It required us getting permission to search ourselves and getting on our hands and knees to shake her out of hiding and get her home (just like you instructed).

I will recommend you and your Lost Cat Finder Kit to everyone I come across, Kim. You've helped us get our family back together. Without reading the e-book, she would probably still be stuck in there and we'd be searching everywhere else.

I can't thank you enough! Enjoy our reunion pics and where we found her!"

Before moving to another state, this cat's family dropped off their old chair recliner at a thrift store, not realising their cat was hiding inside it.

Cats often decide to hide during the chaos of a move. Unforuntately, owners often assume they got out when they can't find them. Always consider all the angles and go over every detail of the day the cat disappeared.

A cautionary tale & lesson on cats who disappear this time of year.

Emily reported her cat missing on Jan 2nd especially worried because temperatures were dropping into the 20s.

The key question in this case? Time of year.

In Dec/ early January, cats get a chance to sneak into spaces not usually open as people take out & put away Christmas stuff. So the key question is, "Has anyone accessed an attic, storage shed, or basement lately?"

Wow Kim, Yes! We had originally checked the attic with a selfie stick, moved all the items out and put them back inā€¦. Then today, after going over your Lost Cat kit and watching the videoā€¦ we decided to check again using your cubic method and we found him!!

Your cat kit helped us understand cat behaviorā€¦ we have the ā€œcautious catā€ which makes sense why he didnā€™t meow those first couple of days. We are just so happy!!! Thank you so muchā€¦ this book was a gift from God!!ā€
