Canine Elite Obedience, LLC is a Dog Obedience School offering Dog Obedience Training, Puppy Training, Service Dog Training, and much more! Walking downtown?

We offer comprehensive training solutions backed by experience and research for all breed types and personalities. A successful pack will have clear leadership, communication, exercise, boundaries and plenty of affection. If your pack is lacking any of these, we are here to help you discover where those inconsistencies may be and how to successfully bring them back in to your family. Our philosoph

All classes are six weeks in length

Beginner - Advanced Obedience: These classes focus on gaining and maintaining your dog’s attention in any environment. We will work on building a solid relationship between you and your dog by teaching you how to gain respect as a leader. We cover: sit, down, stay, leash walking, heel, front, directionals, place, and more. We also offer Canine Good Citizen (CGC) certification in the intermediate class and as a workshop. Outdoor Adventure: Have you ever wanted to learn more about taking your dog out in the real world? Going to parks? Going into pet friendly stores? And you want to have a well behaved dog while exploring the urban world? Well, this class is for you! We’ll take various field trips around town experiencing different distractions and learning how to maintain our dog’s focus the entire way. Locations for our field trips will be decided on by interest and needs of the class. Prerequisites: Beginner Obedience, we also highly suggest Intermediate Obedience or Canine Good Citizenship Certification, Instructor Approval

Fun and Games: What more fun could you have then to play some good ‘ole games like the old days? We’ll play lots of dog/human friendly games – musical chairs, bobbing for apples, relays, and we’ll learn some classic doggy tricks that you can show off to all of your friends and family! Prerequisites: A good sense of humor, Beginner Obedience. If you have concerns about aggression in your pack, contact us for approval for this class.

Cinnamon did amazing yesterday on her outing to log more hours! Everyone is just in amazement that A. She is still a puppy and B. a lady with MS can walk and handle this big girl!!! She was confused as a boy so much yesterday that when we walked by the bow isle Brenda (handler) decided to try bows…. It worked!!!

Reactions are not bad, they are informative.

“What dogs do give us is information. This could look good, bad, or ugly. But in the end, it just provides the information we need.”

If you have a reactive dog, you most likely struggle on a weekly/daily basis with the idea that you have a “bad” dog. Every reaction your dog has, you feel defeated and disappointed. You may even take that failure so harshly that you stop training altogether to avoid the embarrassment. In your mind, you may be saying “ my dog will never get better.” Instead of immediately letting negativity overpower you, repeat this phrase...

“Reactions are informative.”

Reactions give you insight. Reactions help you adjust future training set-ups. Reactions help you understand your dog more.

In your dogs reality, reactions are communicative. Take that communication and use it to adjust where you are in your training and help your dog manage future interactions. Find a larger training area away from your dogs triggers to practice at a safe distance. Keep training sessions short and sweet and always end on a positive note. Teach a new trick or skill and have fun with your dog in between sessions.

When reactions like this happen, those negative thoughts should never turn into an excuse to use punishment. Punishment isn’t healthy nor is it effective in changing the way your dog feels around that trigger. I’ve been a dog trainer long enough to have many unfortunate cases where punishment actually made the behavior worse.

Stay positive, be kind, and keep training!

Canine Elite Obedience LLC

Starting at the age of 5, Dawn spent hours at a veterinarian’s office where her mother worked. After catching Dawn controlling packs of dogs, she knew then that Dawn was destined to be a dog trainer/animal behaviorist. This is where Dawn learned the majority of her trade, then later became a certified dog trainer and behaviorist. She was the Regional Dog Trainer for PetSmart overseeing all training for the stores in Northern Virginia. Dawn also volunteered for St Francis Service Dog.

Canine Elite Obedience has continued to grow and would love to have you and your fur baby as part of the CEO family. We are a master of the trade and determined to go above and beyond for each of our clients.

While concentrating on our Georgia dogs, we have occasionally provided services as far as California and internationally.
