Did you know some proteins are cooling 🧊 and some are warming 🔥according to Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine (TCVM)? That’s not at all to say either is bad, just that your pet’s needs might change depending on the season or other factors that affect their internal balance. (You should be rotating proteins anyway to avoid food sensitivities!)

Great flea tips from - and we’ve also got your pets & home covered on natural flea repellents so the fleas don’t cover them! 😖 (Including one on sale right now from - swipe ➡️)

Get a jump on fleas by stopping them before they land on your dog! Flea-proof your yard with these tips:

1. Spread Nematodes: These tiny worm-like creatures live in soil and help control pests, including fleas. Use them in spring when soil temperatures rise above 45°F for 2-3 weeks. Available at garden centers and online, spray nematodes throughout your yard in spring, summer, and fall.

2. Mow More Often: Keep your lawn cut short to limit tall grass where fleas can hide.

3. Add Repellant Plants: Place pots of lemon balm, sage, rosemary, catnip, lemongrass, basil, and mint by your doors and throughout your yard. These plants have natural oils that repel fleas.

4. Spread Diatomaceous Earth: DE is a non-toxic powder made from fossilized organisms that break open flea eggs. Ensure you use food-grade DE, available at health stores and garden centers. Spread it where your dog spends most of their time. Wear a mask and keep pets away until the dust settles.

5. Water With Garlic: Garlic is a natural flea repellent.
Mix 8 heads of chopped garlic with 1 gallon of almost boiling water. Let it steep for 12 hours, strain, and lightly spray your lawn and garden. Don’t soak the grass or plants.

We’ll preach this forever until we hopefully don’t need to anymore! 📣 🗣️ Do NOT dump kibble in a plastic container! We know it looks more attractive in your pantry, but the potential costs to pouring & storing in another container aren’t worth it, such as:

Food going rancid 🤢; increased risk of storage mites, mold growth, and bacterial contamination 🦠, which can lead to food poisoning, vomiting, and/or diarrhea; chemicals leaching into the food (even if it’s BPA-free), etc.

If your pet is suddenly rejecting his food or having tummy troubles, plastic container storage could be the culprit.

Even if you use something other than plastic, not having lot/batch info on-hand in case of a recall is a no-no. If you must hide the packaging, keep the kibble in its original bag and seal it up inside the container.

Repost Plastics are porous, meaning oils 💧become trapped in them. Unless they’re washed 🧼 daily, which isn’t practical, the pet food stored inside will be spoiled by rancid oils. 🩸

Our lovely human model Jay says this is much easier than carrying Oliver home in his arms! They live near Piedmont Park, so they walk to the Beltline, Piedmont Park, or to a dog-friendly patio in Midtown, and little Oliver can’t always keep up with his humans but doesn’t want to stay home and miss the fun. Now he doesn’t have to! 🙌
