We had a family BBQ Saturday only a few hours after old man Finn arrived. Skylar gave him lots of love, and my family brought their golden Emmy(hanging back in the group photo) who fit right in. They all enjoyed some dog ice cream and lots of running the hill.

Ranger has joined the gang. Ranger’s(human) Dad and Finn’s (human) Mom are brother and sister so they’re away on a family vacay and the goldens are here together. Someone should tell Finn he’s 12 because he acts 2.

All the stuffies will be happy to know Murphy has left the building. 😂 They will live to see another day. That young sweet goof left today and then came Finn, a 12-year-old new to us visitor who has already made himself quite at home. He’s here for ten days so we will get to love on him quite a bit.

Yesterday was a big day of “firsts” for Liz’s Leashes. First off, Shugie got to meet Capt Hal down at the Harbor. A right of passage for dogs I walk down there. He was a good boy for his treat.

Next, and this one had me teary eyed. Salty went off leash with Bee for the first time(with me in charge) in the water. Not being the pet parent I do not generally let the pets I sit off leash. Especially down on a wide open beach. But I’ve been watching Salty for quite some time now and she and I have an understanding. She loves me. I know she does. And I adore her. And we trust each other. So I unclipped that harness and let her freak flag fly. She had the best time with Bee, the two of them played and played. Bob likes to fetch but Bee likes to play. So it was so sweet to see her play with Salty and just splash and run. Shugie was a mad little brother stuck back at the shoreline with me, but he’s got a lot of growing up to do before he’s let loose.

So proud of Salty girl. She made me so happy.

Brody’s poor parents have had a hell of a time getting home from abroad, so Brody’s here another night. Which just left us an extra day to do another adventure with him. Beach Brody was a happy boy.

8 dogs here this weekend. The resident three plus Brody, Brooklyn, Rascal, Salty and Shugie. Feeding time is crazy. Bedtime a delicate dance of who is going where And I’m always careful to make sure each one gets enough snuggles, kisses and hugs to feel like they’re the only one here. People always say “how do you get them all to get along?” I honestly think it’s a combination of things: my family and resident pets are all so chill and used to it and we all just act very natural and not stressed by the chaos, cats included. And the pets that come and stay with me are all regulars at this point, many coming at the same times throughout the year and many getting to know one another and I think they actually become friends. It’s exhausting and it’s crazy at times, but weekends like this I look at these guys faces and I’m proud of this little place I’ve built for them to come to. I love them all so much.
