Congratulations to Pearl on her adoption. Pearl is now a lap baby companion and even has a godmother. She is going to be one loved kitty. Lianna, the white dog with spots, dug up a nice dusty spot and rolled in it. Oh dear, she’s filthy..🤣…she has a brown stripe down her back now…🤣…she’s very proud of her dust bowl.

Pet Supplies Plus let the rescue know that 2 other agencies have been added to the Donation Support. September and October were the first two months that Rose Acres was allowed to pick up donations every 3rd week instead of weekly. There was 9 lbs of Dog Adult Kibble and about 1 lb of Puppy Kibble in the donations picked up 10/19/24. There was cat food and supplies. PSP has supported the rescue for years and this has impacted our operations significantly. The Keep Me Home and Golden Foster Programs are suspended indefinitely. The rescue is closed to intake. Dr. Trapp, Dot (our Cat Rescuer Mentor), and Margie (foster/volunteer) have sent dog food. The Chewy Gift cards that have been donated bought another week’s worth of food and I supplemented the food during the gap. As of today, the food bins are full and we have six 44 lb bags of Pedigree stored. This will feed the dogs just under 3 weeks. Ways our supporters can assist:
1. Donate Chewy Gift Cards! They add up quickly and once ordered the food is here within 48 hours.
2. Donate via Walmart’s Spark Good. You order, they deliver. We are approved charity and have a wish list.
3. If you have been leaving items specifically for RAR at PSP Homewood, call the rescue and we’ll make arrangements to get them from you. I’ll post the dates RAR picks up donations when I receive the schedule from PSP. 256-738-8574
4. Moa, Sarabi, Oscar, Will, Skye and Nora have difficulty with sensitive stomachs and maintaining weight. They do best on Purina ProPlan, Fromm, Hill Science Diet, Merrick, Taste of the Wild Salmon and Zignature. Donations of these brands will be reserved for them.
5. Tractor Supply Company on Hwy 431 in Boaz has a donation basket for the rescue. It’s at front of store at check-out. They are happy to take donations larger than basket!

The cats have sufficient food between the donations from Tractor Supply Boaz and PSP. We’ll update as the cat supplies change.
RAR appreciates all that Pet Supplies Plus has done for us since 2016 at the Roebuck store and then the Homewood location after Roebuck closed. We look forward to continuing with Pet Supplies Plus.
Unfortunately, this change has been catastrophic for the rescue’s already strained budget. We are actively searching for new sources of donations and support.

Changes to Calhoun County Alabama Snip-It Ticket Voucher. Please spay and neuter.

We've learned that the Alabama Spay/Neuter Clinic has had a fee increase for spays and neuters that affects the cost of the Snip-it Ticket program; with the included Jacksonville subsidy, neuters are now $56 for dogs and $41 for cats, and spays are now $71 for dogs and $56 for cats.

Those who plan to purchase a ticket should bring proof of residency to the Calhoun County Commission office to save $15 on the purchase of a snip-it ticket voucher. The City Council each year approves a $3,000 sponsorship that covers the discount for up to 200 vouchers. The discounted vouchers are first-come, first-serve and are replenished each year at the start of the city's fiscal year in October.
