This exceptional mare Tessa has been a valuable teacher, serving as the first young Cowhorse purchase I made. Over the course of seven years, we have navigated numerous milestones, from establishing my business to moving out of my childhood home & much more.

Occasionally, I wish I could revisit our early snaffle bit days, armed with the knowledge and expertise I possess today as a trainer. Throughout the years, she has been my trusted companion, tolerating my experimental approaches and learning processes.

Tessa holds a special place in my heart, and I am deeply grateful I bought that crazy black yearling when I was just 19 years old. My family may have thought I lost my mind at the time but I owe it to this mare for making me who I am today.

You know you're just someone who refused to quit and settle for a life that felt too small.

Sometimes the bravest thing you can do is disappoint people's expectations and exceed your own.

When you stand out from doing more with your life than what the average person does there will be those bitter people who are constantly hating on you and trying to sink your ship.

There is absolutely no need in trying to sugarcoat it... You just have to accept that some people are simply s**tty humans.

You can't heal someome who doesn't want to change for the better. You can't fix someone who doesn't see a problem or admit they are the problem. I KNOW... I was once one of those people. I was once one of those people who refused to admit to the truth or face my own personal demons. I was the person who thought only the special or the privileged got to win or be great at something.

Not everyone deserves your patience...
Not everyone deserves a part of you anymore...
Not everyone deserves another chance to disappoint you.

Stop trying to see the good in people who've only ever shown you harm. Stop wasting your time on people who refuse to face their own truths or demons. Stop wasting your time on the dreamers who never take action. Stop wasting your time on s**tty people.

Your loyalty shouldn't come at the cost of your own self-respect or sanity. Some hearts are just too cold, too selfish, and too bitter to waste your time on.

It's not your job to redeem anyone or carry the
weight of their damage. Let go of the fantasy of that person being exactly what you'd like them to be. Accept what they've shown you, not what you hoped for.

Peace begins the moment you stop rewriting
someone's character just to feel better about them.

It's on them NOW to fix them...
It's on them NOW to get their s**t together...

You just do your thing, your way. Stop wasting your time on s**tty people. Walk away.
This is your life... OWN IT!

Does anyone recall MI OWN LOOKER aka Lucas, the big goofball? This 5 year old is back with us after a summer of relaxation and is now committed to finishing his education.

For those who do not know Lucas, he participated in our c**t starting program last winter, where we concentrated on groundwork and riding instruction, achieving notable success.

Unfortunately, I did not have the room to keep him over the summer. This will be a genuine evaluation of how effectively his training has been retained from last winter. I can already see that his solid foundation persists.👏🏼 **tstarting

KB Quarter Horses has decided to postpone haul-in lessons for at least two-three weeks. We will also not be hauling off property. This precautionary measure aims to protect our horses and those enrolled in our training program. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation. Our sympathies are with those impacted. 🙏❤️

Michigan horse people….listen up. Horses at the Barrel Futurity of America that are coming back to Michigan still can be silent spreaders showing no signs of EHV-1. They also can go dormant, reactivate, spread it during times of stress. This is not a joke and not worth the risk. It’s not worth hauling out till this calms down.

What is EHV-1 you may ask?
A highly contagious virus in horses that causes:
• Flu-like respiratory illness (most common)
• Late-term abortions in pregnant mares
• Neurological disease (EHM) – weakness, paralysis, sometimes fatal
Spreads easily by nose-to-nose contact, aerosol, or contaminated equipment. No cure; supportive treatment only. Vaccines help reduce severity and shedding but don’t fully prevent the neurologic form. Strict biosecurity and quarantine are critical during outbreaks.
