Got this great gift today from the van Eps Laminitis and Endocrinology Lab at PennVet. This lab opened less than 2 years ago and has been such a great resource to so many equine vets including myself. I feel like I should be sending them a thank you gift.

It is very bittersweet that today was my amazing vet assistant's last day with KE Equine. Isabel is off to Wheaton College with the plan to hopefully go on to veterinary school. Isabel has been with me the last three and half years and her passion for learning and attention to detail in patient care has been outstanding. Her scope driving skills are unreal, she can find a pylorus or get into a guttural pouch in no time. I am very much going to miss all Isabel's skills but also her friendly, kind demeanor to the clients and patients. Good luck at Wheaton Isabel ! And here's hoping you can come join me in the future as an equine veterinarian !

Dr. Kate is back from the ACVIM Forum in Louisville, KY. It was a week full of learning and connecting with colleagues. Dr. Kate is bringing back some new knowledge to apply to her daily practice which is exciting!

Today is KE Equine's 4 year Anniversary !!! It has been an awesome 4 years and we have to thank our great patients, clients and referring veterinarians. KE Equine is also very lucky to have the best vet assistant for the last 3 years with Isabel. Happy 4th Anniversary to KE Equine!

Dr. Kate had a fun time this past weekend giving a hands-on clinic to a great group of riders at Canton Equestrian Center. We discussed and learned about common equine emergency as well as how to take the horse's TPR, how to properly wrap a foot and how to give different medications. Thank you Canton Equestrian. If your barn is interested in having Dr. Kate come out and give a hands-on clinic please contact her.

Happy 3 year Anniversary to our great assistant Isabel! We both can not believe it has been 3 years, time flies when you are having fun. I love how Isabel steps up to challenges and takes on learning new skills. We all know she is a whiz at driving the gastroscope to the pylorus and the 1 meter scope into guttural pouches. She also takes the best foot radiographs, a skill she has really perfected over the last two years. We have a new list of skills for her take on in year 3! I am so lucky to have such a dedicated, fun and caring assistant. Thank you Isabel for 3 great years and here's to another!

Dr. Kate had a fun time yesterday at the Area 1 panel discussion. It was encouraging to see eventers of all ages and the questions from the audience were great. If you are at the Area 1 meeting today look for the KE Equine bucket filled with vet supplies at the silent auction!

Dr. Kate and Isabel are on vacation for the next week. We will not be able to respond to texts, email or phone calls while on vacation. If your horse has an urgent matter please contact your regular veterinarian. We will be back working November 6 and return texts, emails and calls then. Thank you !
