***Unfortunately we have to cancel our pack walk but anyone can walk a total of 3.1 miles for December 31st and still get their AKC Turkey Trot medal***

Join us next Saturday, November 30th, in Merced for our AKC 5K Turkey Trot!

This 3.1 mile pack walk will be a leisurely walk, with training exercises thrown in. Everyone participating will be eligible to order their Turkey Trot 2024 medal from AKC as well.

We will be meeting at the Sunset Trail located at 4297 Freemark Ave, Merced, CA 95348 at 2pm. If you are worried about walking your dog you can show up a half hour early to try some of our favorite tools for walking, get a quick lesson, and use some loaner equipment.

New cutie alert. Nova is here for our board and train program. She was adopted by one of our local animal control officers after being found on the streets. We are helping her learn some foundational obedience so she can hopefully be utilized to help more stray dogs in our area.

Stussy, the bull mastiff, has been with us and is competing our 2 week board and train program. He spent the first week settling in, learning our routine, and being exposed to lots of new dogs. He is a young boy despite his size, with a big ol puppy brain. But we are finally getting some engagement and figuring out leash pressure.

Hazel, who is also here for training, came along to work on her settling and neutrality in exciting places. She was also a great demo dog for Stussy.

We do have one opening for another board and train dog, either our 2 or 4 week program. Message us for more details!

Hazel got some great training in public at our local pumpkin patch "Pumpkin Pooch" event. She got to heel and settle around tons of other dogs, see some livestock, and even got to do the tractor ride. Her confidence is always amazing, and her engagement around distractions is improving so much.

Norie's first plane ride, and she did excellent. She handled TSA like a pro, settled great inside the busy terminals, used the pet relief areas, and did great on the plane. We were lucky and had two open seats, so she really got to spread out.

Late posting this (busy as usual!), but our wonderful Kovu came back for a brief time. We went to Washington to watch his beautiful handler get married and I got to es**rt him down the aisle to deliver his mom’s rings. Then Kovu flew back with us for a short board and train while she went on her honeymoon. It was such an honor to be part of her big day, and we loved getting to see our best boy again!

Ares is completing our started service dog program today. We are so proud of how much he's grown in confidence and skills. This little pup sure grew up a ton while he was here, and we can't wait to see what he accomplishes back with his handler.

We ended our last evening together doing a grocery store run and then a big romp with all his favorite dog friends when we got home.

This cutie patooty is Banksy. He's with us working on developing a routine to help with potty training and some confidence in public places.

Kobe and Nova braved the wet outdoors to work on some e-collar conditioning and recall today.

Pirata doing great with the e-collar and enjoying some off leash time.

Lucy doing a one minute down stay. This was tough for Lucy, as duration is a state of mind as well. She's an excitable dog, and focus has been challenging for her. Duration involves making a continued good decision and not working off an aroused mindset. This drill is especially important for dogs like Lucy and will get easier and easier for her.

Little miss Nova is figuring out what the leash pressure means and getting much better with the figure 8 leash.

Pirata doing some training with the long line and e-collar. Even though we are using the e-collar to reinforce his recall, building engagement and making being near me rewarding is just as important.

Lucy went on a little adventure yesterday with our good friends Labrador puppy.

Pirata is doing much better with his engagement during walks. Using a combination of leash pressure, direction changes, sudden stops, and food rewards, he's paying more attention to me and less to the goings on around him. The more engagement he gives, the more rewarding it is for him.

Zena rocking her leash work and getting ready to head home this weekend with some newfound skills.

Little wild child Lucy is finally figuring out leash pressure and that a little engagement means good things happen.

It's taken Zena a hot second, but she's finally figuring out the leash pressure and becoming more active and engaged during training.
