Spring Willow Kennel My name is Laurie Owen and we are hobby breeders of basenjis All dogs live in the house, under foot and on the couch.

Located in NE Ohio, we welcome visitors to come meet the breed and see if basenjis are for you! We welcome visitors to come meet our dogs if you are considering adding a basenji to your family. We are involved in the sport of showing dogs in conformation events. We have also dabbled with other venues, such as herding and coursing.

We are going to place three of our older basenji girls to make room for our up and coming kids. One spayed female is available now and two will be available in eight weeks when we wean their puppies. They are great producers and deserve to have a loving person, and a couch of their own. One of them is the grandmother of this year’s national best of winners and also the mother of this year’s national best bred-by exhibitor and reserve winners bitch. The other was a National Specialty AOM winner and Top 20 contender. The ideal home would be an experienced basenji home where these kids could be an only dog or possibly with a male. Please reach out if you might be interested.

As I sit here and reflect on the 2024 Basenji Club of America National Specialty, all I can say is WOW! To see so many dogs we bred being used was amazing. I'm sure their owners will post their own brags, but I want to brag on them too!

I'm sure I probably missed someone, please know it isn't intentional. My mind is a bit jumbled with all the wonderful things that happened this past week. Thank you to our Judge, Ms. Ann Harrison, Hacker Basenjis, for finding our crew. Thank you to our extended basenji family for loving the kids and to our breed community for your kind comments. We are looking for a forever home for this beauty. Heavenly recently came back to us after her owner unexpectedly passed away. She was VERY well loved ( maybe too much 😉) but we are working on that with diet and exercise. She just turned 9 but has a lot of life left in her, especially when a soccer ball is involved. She’s been an excellent house dog and she has had only one accident since she got here. Gets along with every dog we have put her out with. She loves people and drags me towards everyone we see on our walks. She can’t wait to meet kids, rolling over on her back for belly rubs every time they pet her. We haven’t tried her with kids under 8 simply because we haven’t met any, but I feel like she would be great with any respectful kids. House trained, current on vax and already spayed.
