Cabalito was bred by Heinrich Heemke in Germany. At his Hanoverian licensing, Cabalito was selected by the State Stud in Celle.
This is considered a great honor, as of the thousands of colts that are born each year, only a few and select best are licensed, and only about 10 of these are selected to stand at the state stud.
From here Cabalito made the short trip to Adelheidsdorf where he participated in the 11 month state performance test, culminating with the final 100 day test. Cabalito completed the difficult testing with flying colors, finishing in the top half of his class. He received 8?s in willingness to work, overall capacity to work, walk and trot. Cabalito is one of the few licensed sons of the very elegant and popular Hanoverian State Stud Cordoba. These were new bloodlines to be introduced the US that are known in Germany for producing horses of excellent character and ridability. Cabalito also has a fantastic dam line that through his grand-dam, Dompoesie, has produced the exceptional stallions Weltmeyer, Wanderbusch I & II, Don Carlos and many other renown performance horses. You will see many other famous stallions in his pedigree including Cavalier, Bolero, Absatz and Dominik. Anne Kursinski’s Olympic partner Starman is also related to Cabalito through Cavalier.
After an extensive search for a promising young hunter sire to compete and breed, Cabalito was selected and imported to the states by Anne Hedge of Whitehedge Farm in Texas in 2001 to be the foundation of her hunter breeding program. He was also approved for breeding by the Oldenburg Verband during their 2001 summer tour.
His competitive career in the US that was started and managed by Anne Hedge showcased his versatility as a sporthorse. He was Champion stallion and overall Grand Champion three times at Dressage breed shows, culminating with the USDF Region 9 Mature Horse Championship stallion. Cabalito was started in the First Year Green hunter ring by Shane George with great success and was very well received by both judges, trainers and breeders. He received top ribbons and many wins in the pre-greens at "A" shows including the San Antonio Christmas Show, Great Southwest and the High Prairie Summer Circuit. In 2003 he started in the First Year Greens and was Champion at several AA shows, including the Ocala winter circuit out of over 35 other horses. He moved up to the 2nd yr Greens with Shane George with great success in 2004. In 2005 Cabalito went for a change of pace with a new rider and moved into the jumper ring. He quickly moved up the ranks with ribbons in the level 5,6 and 7's. He displayed enormous scope, and had the promising look of a future Grand Prix star. Due to unfortunate changes of family circumstance, Cabalito was sold in 2007 to Marsh Pond Farm in Florida. He showed with their 14 yr old son in the junior jumper divisions with great success. He took a break from showing for a year then moved back into the hunter ring with trainer Renee Coates and then owner Lisa Coletto to earn championships in the Adult hunters in Arizona and California.
In a storytale ending Cabalito returned permanently home to Anne Hedge at Whitehedge Farm in Aubrey, Texas in 2012 and is still an active show and breeding stallion. He absolutely loves to show and jump and compete as a schoolmaster for Anne's 13 yr old daughter Macy White.
Cabalito has proven to be an exceptional sire throughout his career, and has offspring competing up to the highest levels in the hunter and jumper rings. He has produced inspection champions, MPT winners, hunter breeding champions, Champions in the First Years, Junior hunters, Children's and Adults Hunters, Equitation, winners of National Hunter Derbies and has many offspring and grandoffspring that are very loved by their junior and amateur riders.
Cabalito continues to be an important asset to the breeding of high performance hunters in the US, and also as an important broodmare sire through his exceptionally producing daughters. He is also the sire of Cabana- a Stallion standing in Argyle Texas who himself is the sire of 2016 Pre-Green Incentive Finals group 2 winner Davidson and Multiple Junior Hunter Champion Linus.
