The New York ALB eradication program worked with Auburn University’s Canine Performance Sciences K-9 team Auburn University's Canine Performance Sciences. They were previously in Ohio and South Carolina working with the ALB eradication programs there too. The team is testing to see if the dogs can find the beetle in areas with infested trees. Funded by the USDA as a pilot study, this work is part of USDA Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service’s ongoing effort to find new ways to fight the pest. Detection canine technology has been revolutionized by Auburn University's Canine Performance Sciences. For the last 30 years, CPS has been a leader in detection canine research, breeding, development and technological innovation.

But without the dogs and their amazing olfactory abilities, none of these life-saving innovations would be possible. Dogs can detect substances at concentrations more than 𝘢 𝘵𝘩𝘰𝘶𝘴𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘦𝘴 𝘴𝘮𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘦𝘳 than any other living creature or current technology.

Tank was trained to be a detection dog by Auburn University's Canine Performance Sciences. Today, Tank is one of the security dogs that patrol Busch Stadium for the St. Louis Cardinals and is in the running for "America's Favorite Pet." Good luck Tank!🐾
