A reminder on pet safety for the spooky season! Make sure to keep candy and decorations away from your pets. Chocolate can be toxic to pets, and many sugar-free candies contain xylitol, which is poisonous to dogs. Decorations like fake cobwebs, rubber eyeballs, or tinsel can be dangerous for pets. Fake cobwebs can entangle pets, while rubber eyeballs and tinsel can be a choking or foreign body hazard.

Calling all animal lovers! We’re hiring! If you’re looking for a part-time gig, or something full-time, send your resume and/or questions to [email protected]. We’re open Wednesday and Thursday nights, and Friday at noon through Sunday at midnight.

We’re looking for a qualified candidate to fill two different rolls: receptionist/assistant and veterinary technician. Weekends are a must in emergency medicine, but scheduled times are up for discussion. Lots of perks included in working at UVC… like the occasional puppy cuddle.

Here are the most common signs of pain in cats; decreased activity, decreased appetite, and/or overgroom or licking a particular area. PSA! Fleas!! Fleas are the most common external parasite found on pets. Fleas feed on blood in order to reproduce, and flea infestations can cause itchy, painful skin conditions. Once they have infested a host, fleas begin feeding almost immediately, with female fleas starting to lay eggs just 24 hours after feeding begins.1 These eggs will fall off and land in the infested animal’s environment. The eggs eventually become adult fleas that are ready to find a new host and begin the life cycle all over again.

Flea infestations can be costly, frustrating, and time-consuming to treat. You can prevent and infestation if all the cats and dogs in your home are treated with flea protection. It means that, even if a flea finds its way to your pet, the flea will die before it has the chance to lay eggs. Ending infestations can be a long and difficult process, but preventing them can be easily done with the help of your veterinarian and monthly preventions.
