Mireille our little miracle minipig. 2 day old Potbelly Kune-Kune cross, her whole litter was lost to hypothermia, she barely held on by a silk thread, but pulled through.

4 new Guinea pigs came in today. They are very healthy and well cared for. A little skittish but very talkative and easy to handle. These guys will spend their days munching away in their new space.

Pidge
I call her the pigeon chicken, she's so tiny and sweet. Olde English Bantam Bird, she's the tiniest chicken I've ever seen. And the sweetest bird ever, she reminds me of my parakeets I had years ago. She rides on my shoulders and sings in my ear. So much personality in a tiny package!
I think she'll be getting a private cage indoors, she just wouldn't be safe outdoors with the other chickens at only 1/3 their size.

Broadleaf Plantain Skin Salve...
From start to finish. Harvested from our yard, washed, dried and soaked in extra Virginia olive oil for 4 weeks in a cold infusion process. Then strained using grade 100 cheese cloth, mixed with the proper ratio of beeswax, and melted together in a double boiler method. Added a few drops of a honey almond extract for fragrance, and poured it into 0.5oz tins. I should have ordered more tins, as I had 3 half pint jars filled with leftovers.
This salve is perfect for anything skin related, especially insect bites and stings, poison ivy, poison oak, poison sumac, cuts, scrapes, scratches, and minor burns, it's even great for diaper rashes!

Lavender wands ~ History hands down valuable garden crafts like weaving lavender wands. They encase the fragrant flowers in a green woven basket of their own stems, to create artful wands that could ornament closets and drawers, while perfuming clothes, lingerie and bedding. Science reinforces what our ancestors already understood - that lavender infused a calming perfume that also keeps moths and bedbugs at bay.

As your skills grow, wand making becomes a fragrant meditation...
Aromatherapy for a weaver. It's a great craft to share with kids...and of course there is a little magic in every wand. 😉

To make your own lavender wand, gather the longest stems of fresh lavender. Secure an odd number of tightly just below the flower heads with fine ribbon and bend the stems back over the flowers like a cage. Use the same ribbon ends to weave back through in opposite directions (in order to leave flowers exposed in a checkerboard pattern): over and under, over and under, until the flowers are encased and you can use the remainder of the ribbon to fashion the handle of the wand.

Midnight had another litter of Mini Rex x Holland lop mixes. 1 black, 1 blue tort and 1 Castor or Otter. Can't wait to see if they're boys or girls.
Still have 1 blue boy left from her 3/17 litter, he has helicopter ears.
