In case you did not receive our email regarding online pharmacy prescriptions, we wanted to share this information with you.

We understand the convenience of ordering your pets medications, food and supplies from online pharmaceutical companies (such as Chewy, 1-800-PetMeds, etc). However, due to the sheer volume of requests we receive, and the staff time required to process these, we will be making changes on how these are handled.

Starting 11/4/24, we will no longer approve prescription requests that come directly to us from outside pharmacies by email, phone or by fax. This DOES NOT mean that you cannot get your pet's medication from an outside pharmacy. If you wish to utilize one of these pharmacies, please call our clinic and request a written prescription. Please allow 2 business days for our team to process your request. Once your pet's prescription is ready for pick up, our staff will contact you via text message. You will need to pick up this prescription from our clinic and take it or mail it to a pharmacy of your choosing.

If you would like the convenience of ordering online and getting your pet's medications delivered directly to you, we partner with an online pharmacy that works directly with veterinarians and the manufacturers of the medications. They offer prices that are competitive with Chewy and other online pharmacies. You will have peace of mind knowing that these products come from a reputable source and are backed by the manufacturer. They offer discounts for first-time and repeat customers as well as manufacturer rebates. Also, any product you purchase is directly linked to your pet in their official medical record.

It’s National Pet Dental Month! 👀 check out the tartar buildup on this patient of ours! The end result was of course pearly whites!! Periodontal disease is the most common dental condition in dogs and cats – by the time your pet is 3 years old, he or she will very likely have some early evidence of periodontal disease, which will worsen as your pet grows older if effective preventive measures aren’t taken. Early detection and treatment are critical, because advanced periodontal disease can cause severe problems and pain for your pet. Periodontal disease doesn’t just affect your pet’s mouth. Other health problems found in association with periodontal disease include kidney, liver, and heart muscle changes. It starts with plaque that hardens into tartar. Tartar above the gumline can often easily be seen and removed, but plaque and tartar below the gumline is damaging and sets the stage for infection and damage to the jawbone and the tissues that connect the tooth to the jaw bone. Periodontal disease is graded on a scale of 0 (normal) to 4 (severe). -AVMA
