LT is pretty stoked about his raw deer heart snacks! I let the heart thaw a little bit and then cut into pieces and flash freeze and put into container and refreeze.
Heart is rich in essential minerals like iron, zinc, and selenium, as well as fatty acids. It is also a good source of vitamins B2, B6, and B12. Deer heart is loaded with protein, CoQ10 antioxidants, and amino acids. The heart is high in an amino acid called taurine which helps support their eye, brain and heart health! Pretty sure my dogs eat way healthier than I do. My snack was a chocolate covered caramel with sea salt 😅

Busted yet again stealing the training dogs water! He’s so rotten 😆

Rare moment went down! Back in the day LT was all about getting a play on with training dogs. But nowadays, not so much! He basically doesn’t want anything to do with them and goes on about his way. Titan was booted out of doggie day care because of rough play. Over the last week he has learned how to calmly exist around other dogs and feline. And because of that, LT isn’t annoyed with him as much as he was when he first arrived. I typically get a play on with Titan when we come out of the woods and LT goes on about his way. But this time, he decided to do this! I let the dogs have some fun and then asked Titan to back off and move along and give him his space again. Very important to be able to turn play on and off. Titan did a great job of not being overly rambunctious and was very respectful of LT’s space 👍🏼👏🏼

More about these darn sardines 😅 I added the link for where I get raw sardines for our dogs. I prefer the raw over the canned because of the nutrient loss. And I also added the link for a great salt free in water option for canned sardines that Hine Farms brought to my attention. When giving sardines to your pets, make sure you look for sardines in water. And then for human consumption, I received sardine input from my Uncle Norm that he prefers the Season sardines in oil at Costco! I think we now have our sardine bases covered 😅

This might not look like much, but this is huge for Titan not reacting to Tommy. On his home front he terrorizes the cats. He will fixate on them, bark at them and also chase after them and the cats are living in fear because of his behavior and are blocked off to help keep them safe. Tommy is 17 years old, and my job is to keep him safe. It’s the same with any dog that comes here…my cat is off limits, period! Just because he enters the room, doesn’t mean it’s stare down time, just because he moves doesn’t mean we bark or chase after him. This is where the place command and also the remote collar comes into play. The place command is helping/teaching Titan how to keep his 💩together and learning how to remain calm and a just a low level tap of the remote collar snaps him out of his feline fixating and he goes back to chillin. If you don’t immediately interrupt the stare down…it will continue to build from there and next thing you know your poor cats are hiding and living in fear. With implementing place and remote collar training, Titan is learning how to properly co-exist with a feline and not act a fool! And, yes there are times that I have to tell Tommy to knock if off when he’s going above and beyond with his up close and personal distraction training 😆 It’s all about balance and keeping harmony and being an advocate for all your animals 👍🏼

AMEN!! Great share post Loyal K9 Rescue 👍🏼Not much is said in the rescue world about training! Training does indeed help keep dogs in homes and out of shelters and rescues. Let’s talk about sardines! After my last sardine post, I had a few people reach out asking about giving sardines to their dogs. I personally feed my dogs raw sardines (from my pet carnivore) verses canned. You can give your dog canned, but make sure it is packed in water and rinse off the salt. Feeding guideline is one sardine per/20lbs several times a week. I prefer the raw sardines because there’s no salt and no nutrient loss compared to the process for canned sardines. My dogs love their sardines and they’re packed with so much goodness for them and us too! Which I haven’t been brave enough to try yet 😅 Who else gives their dogs sardines and/or eats them as well?
