**Puppy Social Hour - Start your puppy off with some positive puppy play pals. This socialization experience is an hour of puppy fun and learning! This is a great option to do while you wait for Puppy Kindergarten class to start, or to do in addition to your puppy's class. We’ll watch the pups play, practice calming down, play some more, talk about a puppy focus topic, play some more, answer questions about raising a puppy, then end with more play time. Topics will include - mouthing and biting, housebreaking, polite greetings, socialization, recalls, possessiveness prevention, crate training, grooming, boredom busters.
**Beginning Obedience - This class is for all dogs over 5 months.
This is a six week, on-leash obedience class for dogs of all ages. This class teaches basic obedience commands such as good leash manners, sit, down, come. We keep our classes small so you and your dog can get more individual attention during class.
The goal is to train the dog to respond using only one command and using a loose leash.
**Intermediate Obedience -
This class expands on the training from the beginning class. We'll work toward off leash control and build distance, distractions and duration on all exercises. Some of the additional exercises include drop on recall, go to rug and finishes.
Gold Star's Beginning Obedience class is a prerequisite to the Intermediate class. You must have previously take the Beginning Obedience class at Gold Star to register for the Intermediate class or have instructor approval.
**Calm Canine - From crazy to calm, barky to quiet, fearful to confident. This class is for dogs who need help managing reactivity and impulse control.
Learn techniques and skills to change your dog’s emotional and behavioral responses to stimulus and stressors. What are your dog’s triggers? Dogs? People? Bikes?
Course schedule - six sessions over eight weeks, allows for practice and progress. The first class is without dogs.
**Therapy Dog Prep - Therapy Dog Prep is for handlers who have an interest in doing Pet Therapy with their dog. We will build on your obedience skills, introducing dogs to equipment and situations that may be encountered as part of this work. We will teach the handlers their role in interacting in these environments and learning how to be a supportive advocate for their dog. This class will help prepare you for the evaluations offered by Pet Partners, TDI, Reading with Rover and Alliance of Therapy Dogs. Even if therapy work is not your goal, it is a great class to help teach your dog to work around lots of distractions and situations.
Prerequisite - Dogs must have completed a CGC Prep Class or equivalent. If dogs have taken an Intermediate/Advanced Obedience Class and have STRONG basic skills, they are welcome to attend.

**Here - Recall Workshop - This workshop covers 90 minutes of recall skills and drills!
A reliable come when called is one of the most important skills you can teach your dog! Recalls are crucial for your dog's safety and can lead to more enjoyable time off leash. Good recalls take lots of training and repetition, while adding in distractions. This workshop provides extra training practice to set your pup up for recall success!

** Hi - Polite Greetings Workshop - This workshop is 90 minutes of polite greeting skills and drills!
Greeting people can be a very exciting moment for dogs, but jumping up and leaping on people can take the fun out of it for the humans involved. This workshop will provide extra practice to help your pup keep four feet on the floor! Practice and repetition are key to dog training, the more situations you can practice in, the more likely your dog will be successful.

Want to get started with scentwork?? We have a new class starting in September!
This class will be a fun, thorough introduction, following the systems created by the National Association of Canine Scent Work to build a solid drive to find odor. The techniques will work for folks who just want a new and fun activity with their dog, as well as those who would like to try competing either in NACSW, AKC or USCSSS events (of which we have many locally). We will also discuss factors that influence a dog’s ability to find the odor source, supplies and how to practice at home, as well as how and when to start competing (if interested in that part).
Scentwork is a wonderful confidence builder for shy or timid dogs! Older dogs and dogs with disabilities or physical limitations can easily participate in scentwork. Dogs who are reactive to other dogs can also participate, as it is one handler, one dog at a time. It has the potential to strengthen your bond with your dog and your ability to understand them. Each class will be a supportive, fun, and interesting experience for participants - and your dogs will sleep soundly after working their brains and sniffers!

**Puppy Kindergarten - This is a 6 week class for puppies under 5 months old. This is a great first class to start out with your puppy! We teach you the basics in how to raise and train your puppy. Learn to avoid common mistakes in training and management that can save you from future problems.
Our focus is on building a relationship, keeping training fun and positive and making sure all of your training and behavior questions are answered. We will lay the foundation for all future training and will also have puppy socialization.
