Now offering- Fall 2024 reading/literacy programs at Whispering Woods Stables in Augusta.

I have received my certification as an instructor with Horse Powered Reading an equine assisted program to help children develop and enhance their reading and literacy skills.

This was a moment I never thought I’d see, JB who has been with me since 2013 suffers from severe allergies, and it’s almost like he knows -he NEVER goes to the grass, never wonders far from the hay-never spends times with his pasture mates anywhere except in the dirt paddock area-we tried everything and he’s on regular allergy shots - they help but not enough to relieve his breathing difficulties- so 3 years ago I purchased a horse nebulizer- this year we’ve had to use it almost every day for the last few weeks, we’ve also added dried Mullen leaves and a lung supplement yo his diet -and tonight much to my surprise when I stopped by the barn-here he was eating grass- which is something I haven’t seen for years- aww JB finally - you must be feeling well enough to enjoy some pasture time-

A huge thank you to Dr Jeff Vigue of North Star Veterinary Service for your help with his care and with the nebulizer medication and how to use it-it’s the best thing I could ever have done for JB-

Also so much appreciation and thanks to Jennifer Whitney and Carson Harvey for their never ending care and treatment to keep JB as healthy and comfortable as possible-

This sure made me smile 💖

We are a huge proponent of horses and healing- 🐴

Mental health programs and services incorporating horses are gaining more and more traction everyday. It is is a safe, dynamic and effective option for those in need.

Horses help encourage perseverance, respect for life, and maintenance of positive and empathetic attitudes towards ourselves and others.

With the appropriate care, people can flourish, grow and heal 🤍☁️🌿🍃✨️

A huge thank you to Turner Publishing for working with us on a new ad that we will be running in 3 of their publications -The Good New Gazette, The Kennebec Current and The Two Cent Times! Along with the ad I was given an unbelievable opportunity to write new articles about Whispering Woods, our staff, our horses and our programs-our first article in on page 15.

Whispering Woods went to our first Kennebec Valley Business After Hours Event. We couldn’t think of a better event to go to as our first event. Great job to the Kennebec Valley Chamber on a job well done!

Congratulations to Charlie and Nancy Shuman on such a great facility-The Nancy Shuman Animal Shelter- What a beautiful place.

Whispering Woods Stables in Augusta is offering our first Youth Farm-tastic Camp Program. Each Camp session will be 4 consecutive weeks. Our first Thursday afternoon session will begin on June 20th - and our first Saturday morning session will begin on June 22nd.

Coming Soon- Boarding opportunity - Our facility is professionally run, multiple staff members on site, well maintained inside and out, comes complete with a 60x80 indoor with a wide variety of obstacles, 100x200 outdoor, 60' round pen, wash stall, large pastures with run in sheds, (heated) water tubs, hay huts. We have over 150 acres of woods/forest with trails for trail riding. We are located 7 miles from Exit 113 on a private dirt road in a peaceful relaxing environment. There's a heated bathroom conference room, tack room with individual lockers. Separate grain room and hay building. Oh dear- you know it’s windy and not Whispers at Whispering Woods Stables
when this happens!

The rest of the stable was intact other then down fences and leaning panels in the outdoor- so thankful for Jennifer Whitney and Carley Edgar and our volunteers - Dakota and Wes who made it in yesterday to help get the horses situated and safe.

I couldn’t be more thankful for our group- this morning both Jennifer and Carley were back to help, our volunteer Wes came in even tho it wasn’t his typical day, my boarder Mallory came ready to help and both of my parents who are always there in the fun times and the hard work times were there- We had everyone fed, fences righted, generator working- which can be a challenge when you only use it every few years - but it was worth it’s weight in gold today!, every water tub and extra bucket filled with water, stalls cleaned, ring cleaned, safety fencing around our run-ins- and the facility back to its s***k and span self by noon-

DO NOT order anything- it has nothing to with me or Whispering Woods - The only place our logo clothing comes from is Whitts Garments in China ME!

Tomorrow is an exciting day for us at Whispering Woods- we’ve been working all winter on developing a new Equine Assisted Services Program- we will be focusing our activities on the standards set forth by Path International- and have assembled a team of certified equine specialists in mental health and learning, licensed mental health professionals, medical professionals educators, equine professionals and volunteers who have a wide range of experience - in this type of work-

Tomorrow is our very first day and our very first session with our new team- It has been a long time coming and a dream of mine for a long time to get this off the ground- it’s been a ton of work and a massive team effort to get this new model up and running- and we did it- we are ready!

I’m still in awe of the people who have found their way to me, the experience and knowledge they have, and the support they have given to me and Whispering Woods to get these programs off the ground-
