Cross Country Horse Boarding

Got to visit the Dr.
He had an abscess . Large orange size on his right side beneath his jaw line. He was put to sleep and then site was cleaned, poked, fluid withdrawn , examined. And it had bacteria in it. So he is home now resting. Meds once a day.
I'm thankful it was nothing worse.
He's such a good boy.😘

Yes we had a great ride. Ponied Carrie. She finally has her own person to love care train. We worked on endurance. She did great.
Great chow. We were tired but happy😌

Sure was an experience !

Our first 25 mile endurance ride.
AERC RIDE AT KANOPOLIS LAKE
The weather was upper 90's-100. Humidity was horribly high with only a slight breeze on the hills.
The trails rocky , narrow, some smooth. The variety of terrain made it difficult to make good time..
I was told by seasoned riders you know it's a tough ride when only half the pros make it in under time and get pulsed down.
Nicole and I finished nine minutes after 1:00 pm cut off time. Course that was finish line time not pulse down time. My horse Kohl took quite a while to pulse down --- courtesy check he was too high.
He threw a right front shoe the last mile also. Kept clipping both fronts with the hind hooves.
That's about the worst of it.
Nicole and I finished 3rd and 4th from the last.:-)
We were very pleased with Kohl and Bertha. They were real troopers.
Being our very 1st ride and not having anything to compare,
Hopefully Susie can better describe the conditions.
The camping, the people, just everything was awesome. I guess we are now officially endurance riders. I hate it that Kohl won't have his first 25 miles recorded:-( he is a good horse and our bond is strengthened.
Bertha is a mustang quarter horse. Barefoot , she handled the rocks as if she had boots on. Very tough cookie she is. Actually pulsed down pretty good also.
I'm still processing all of this experience. It was good.
I'll post a bit of Susie's journal later.
