I created this page to focus solely on our independently run foster program for pregnant abandoned strays and orphaned bottle babies. It will be a place to share all the cuteness overload that I have been sharing on my personal page... all the videos and "calendar cuties" photos.
I encourage everyone to share their stories as well... nor just about fosters, but about your pets.
I intend to provide information in the files section with links to low cost spay/neuter clinics, applications to become a foster through one of our local humane societies, advice on preparing a proper birthing area for your Mama kitty, red flags on difficult deliveries, tips on how to help your Mama kitty nurse comfortably and ensuring she is getting adequate nutrition, weight maintenance of the kittens, introducing solids, litter training, socializing and finally, what to look for in accepting applications for adoptions. There will so be a brief list of our requirements for adoption.
I will also provide a link for donations... as running this program independently, means all the veterinary and general Healthcare costs, as well as the cases and cases of Friskies canned food, 30lb bag after 30 lb bag of Iams dry food and buckets and buckets of Tidy Cat litter, as well as the Feline
Pine that is necessary for safely litter training the kittens. Occasionally, we rescue a Mother or a litter that is a medical foster -a cat recovering from hip replacement surgery after being hit by a car and left on the side of the road... or rescues from hoarding situations... when the cats come to us starving, filthy, full of fleas, tick and ear mites and loaded with worms. Not only do these defenseless animals need immediate vet care, but it also puts our OG's at risk.. the original gangsters that actually live here... I will introduce (for those of you who are knew fans of our program) our personal pets and tell you entertaining stories about their very strong and thorough characteristics and we would love for this page to be a place for our friends, family and fans to share their stories about their pets.
We have been running this program for a couple of years after fostering for several litters through one of our local shelters... but I found it too difficult to be so involved with these babies... to open up my heart and my home to save these lives... and then having to turn them over to the shelters so they can be placed... and never being allowed to have any recommendations or input on their furever homes... not being allowed any contact information to stay in touch with their new owners was just to sad for me. One of the most rewarding things about this program (and there are SO MANY) are the daily messages and tags in posts from our previous adopters. .. being able to hear their stories, to see photos of how they've grown up, how well they're loved and the warm, fuzzy feeling I get, knowing that I had a short but crucial involvement in the lives of these furbabies...
The page will evolve as things occur to me and as it gets shared to your pet loving friends.. I'd love to see how big of a reach this little program - that is a HUGE part of my life- can get. Right now, we have previous fosters in many New England states and have driven hours to meet families adopting our fosters. We allow and encourage visits with your potential new pet... and we remain available for any questions you might have about owing cats in general.. While I'm not a vet or a cat whisperer, I am PROUDLY a crazy cat lady... and even if you only have one cat the sneaks out of it hiding spot in the middle of the night to eat and you never see them during the day... or whether you raised a 23 year old, chubby orange tabby that crossed that rainbow bridge... I hope you will all "like" and share our page, so that we can further develop our program and continue to save lives and bring these healthy, happy cats into families that are a blessing to these animals that without our help - without your help - may not have made it to the 18-pound bed hogs and 3 am toilet paper unravelers they are today.
