So glad my Irish Setter Gordon is ok . Gordon and shorthair Belle went on a little walkabout down the trail behind my house here in Salcha this am. It was close to minus 30 and within a few minutes Belle was back. ( normally Gordon has a satelite collar on).Gordon is a real follower. I knew something was not right when he was not right behind her.After a bit I got the snowmachine started and started backtracking where they had gone. I stopped down by the river( tanana) and realized somebody had been going down to the river. But their tracks also went the other direction so I started calling his name. I thought I heard him barking so I jumped back on the snowmachine in the direction his bark came from. I found him in a snare! Thank goodness he was smart enough to sit there as the snare was pretty tight on his neck. I got the snare off and it was like he thanked me with a big lick on my cheek.
I wish people would mark their trap lines and not have them so close to our trails in the neighborhood.and houses. Gordon and I were real lucky today as the outcome could have been a frozen body if he had not answered with his bark when I called him❤️
