Update on our family of 11🏥

You might remember, this family of 11 started as two bonded pregnant sisters who were abandoned by their family in an empty apartment, with nothing but kibble spread on the floor. Given their severe neglect, we weren’t sure the babies would survive to birth, but just a few days after rescue, mamas gave birth to 9 babies between the two of them. After being diagnosed with toxoplasmosis, two kittens, Gogo and Chuckles were responding to treatment, but things have taken a turn.

Unfortunately, 5 of the 11 were admitted to the hospital this week—3 of which are still there. GoGo, Chuckles, Venus, Panda and Caboose all began having extremely high fevers (up to 105.7°!) and were showing the neurological symptoms of Toxoplasmosis. The other 7 in this family are still in their foster home and doing well. Their foster has a very close eye on them and has been a rockstar at giving them the care they need.

Not only does this litter have Toxoplasmosis, but GoGo and Chuckles have tested positive for panleuk. Luckily, none of the others who are hospitalized have tested positive at this time. GoGo and Chuckles are improving daily despite their newest diagnoses. As if that wasn’t enough, Chuckles has pneumonia on top of that😢 He may be tiny but that little man is a big fighter!

The good news is all of their blood work is heading in the right direction due to the around the clock care, medications and support they need! Thank you to everyone who has donated or shared their story. Because of you, these babies have a fighting chance😻💪 💙

Funds needed! Royal arrived from Texas last week with his siblings and mom, and just a few short days later was found lifeless. He was rushed to the ER with no pulse, but by some miracle, they were able to revive him and now, days later he is alive and recovering! We’re not sure what caused him to crash, but we hope he’ll get to go back to foster soon. In the meantime, his bills are now well over $5000, not including the cost of ongoing care at home. If you can donate anything, it would be greatly appreciated! These emergency cases are often unavoidable but can be very costly for our small organization. If you’re not able to give, please share to spread the word 💕
