Happy Black Cat Friday

​Suki can be an affectionate & interactive kitty, as long as it's on her terms. She needs a human who can respect her boundaries and, in return, she will be a loving companion. Suki will need time to adjust to a new home and would do best with a patient person.

Once Suki makes a move to indicate she'd enjoy being pet, she really enjoys having her back and tail pet. Like any self-respecting kitty, Suki can be bribed with churu treats.

Happy Tails Update for Ophelia (fka Marimba)

October had a very tough start in life and is looking for a Mulligan. This small house panther was beat up and bitten before she was rescued and brought inside. Moving past her very rough start in life, October learned that she much prefers appreciates soft, fluffy blankets, quiet spaces, window seats, and being in a safe place with her BFF, Minnie.

October is super shy & mellow. She will need a patient purrson who will let her set the pace and give her time to trust them. Once she is comfortable with someone, October loves to get her face scratched. She tends to get nervous when her neck and back where she was bitten get pet. October would do best if she were adopted with Minnie or another kitten, so she can have a friend to help build her confidence.

Happy Black Cat Friday - Special DOG Edition

Leo made a compelling argument that we should give him a Happy Black Dog Friday posting, so here we go.

If you're looking for an adventure companion, meet Leo! He is full of puppy energy and enjoys playing with people and other dogs. His first choice is to share the moment with a playmate. He's also happy entertaining himself for extended periods of time, especially if a squeaky toy is involved. Leo is kennel trained for sleeping and when the humans are not home.

About the only thing Leo is not fond of would be missing out on any fun. He's always willing to join in at playtime and help with the fun.

Leo has discovered that getting a belly rub while he's being cuddled like a baby is a fabulous way to pass the time. This position allows for his entire belly to be rubbed and he wants to make sure his adopters know about this technique.

Sheba loves a lot of things, not least of all people and kids. She is very athletic and is always up for walkies, games, and any sort of play. Sheba is also usually ready for food & snacks, there are unverified reports of counter surfing, but she lawyered up and the mystery has been left unsolved. When she takes a break from being active, Sheba loves snuggles, belly rubs, and easy toys like a food puzzle.

Sheba would probably be best as an only dog in an active family. She will thrive in an environment that will give her strong boundaries and expectations. She enjoys pleasing her humans and can do well when she has goals. Sheba could probably do well as an agility dog and/or a therapy dog.

Sheba has had two instances of heartworm and was successfully treated. She will need to be on meds the rest of her life and we can talk with interested adopters more about this.

Valentine may look orange & white on the outside, but inside, he is 100% orange, goofy boy. This boy loves attention especially when he's being pet or sitting with his humans. Some of the other things on Valentine's list of funnest things to do are sitting in his cat tree and managing his part of the neighborhood watch program.

If you're willing to show Valentine how fun toys are, he will enjoy playing with them (remember we said "100% orange" on the inside). Valentine is very sweet and tolerant, he just wants to be loved and will crawl into any lap that is willing to appear near him.

If you are looking for a dignified kitty, good luck and keep scrolling. If you're looking for a goofy, slightly clumsy guy who lives the "if I fits, I sits" lifestyle, we found your boy. Valentine will roll over for belly rubs and it is not the classic trap--he really wants as many belly rubs as you are willing to give. One of his signature moves is "rattlesnake tail & purrs" when he's very happy. Valentine gets this happy when he comes out of the foster room, meets a new person, or decides it is food time.

Meet Meowcles, he is a very social, friendly, happy, and helpful kitty. Meowcles (think Meow + Muscles), was quick to pop out of his transfer crate to say hello with purrs & head butts. He found a teenager in his foster home who was quite willing to provide a lap and mentor Meowcles in the fine art of gaming. Meowcles especially loves chasing images on the screen during these sessions.

When not living in the high tech world, Meowcles is just as eager to explore his surroundings and find the every bestest toys. Needless to say, Meowcles thrives on human interaction and is looking for a home where he can give & get as much attention as possible.

Happy Black Cat Friday

Hi, I'm Magpie. I made a purrsausive argument that I should be able to have a Black Cat Friday Spot because no one ever said it's only for all-black kitties. I'm happy to say that I won-paws down. If you check out my profile online, you can see some videos of me in action.

I enjoy being petted and am learning about things like playing with toys and how to trust people. I did learn about this super fun toy called "a tunnel." I give this toy an enthusiastic recommendation. Once I relax (petting helps a lot), I'll show off my purring skills.

I keep making progress with my foster family. Foster Mom has been showing me why it's nice to be held & I'll admit, it's kind of nice. I've been introduced to another foster cat and we are getting along. I keep learning more & more to trust the humans and being around other polite animals. I met a mellow dog & thought that went well. I'm not a fan of crazy animals and do enjoy a quieter home without loud scary noises.
