About Us
Our story is long, but it all revolves around animals and a sweet little boy with a brain injury named Jayden. We opened the store front in Oct 2019, even though we have had animal adoptions and rescue in our lives in Aug 2005. Our rescue is still operational. It is 501(c)3. We have taken in any animal that the shelter could not for years. We will continue to do so as we can. Some of the rescues are at the store for adoption. If it is a rescue that is looking for a home, we will give you the information.
To keep our story short, know that the animals are our priority. A lot of the animals that are housed at the store are rescues in rehab. If you see a bird in a cage, there is a reason. If you see a bird missing feathers, please educate yourself before judging. Some of these birds have permanent injuries. Some were stressed to the point that the plucked. Some are habit pluckers. The birds at the store have all been vet checked and have regular health care. The entire upstairs of the building is an apartment that we use to shower the birds and give them alone time when stressed. They each get window time for fresh sunlight upstairs. They eat fresh homemade chop in the morning. It is taken out and replaced with Zupreem for the day time food. Some of them throw it. Some of them pick through it. Some of the eat it all. Some of the birds hate toys and get upset when something is added to their cage. Some of the birds like toys. Some of the birds destroy them in minutes. Each bird’s toys are checked daily to make sure they are meeting that bird’s needs.
These birds are NOT for sale. They are with us because we are not home. If we left them at our home, they would be in cages all day. By keeping them with us, they get more attention than the average bird. Most people can’t take their bird to work with them. We can. We thought it would be good for the birds, but we had a lot of people opening cage doors and messing with birds when we first opened. It as getting dangerous for the birds and we ended up hanging out near them when people were in the store. Now we have them in a separate room and ask that you respect the chain over the door way. If the chain is up, some of the more stressed birds are getting out of cage time and we do not allow anyone in the room. You may still look, but please do not disturb the birds. We are working hard to rehab some of them.
All the animal cages are cleaned daily. The animals only get bottled water. We go through about 25 gallons a week of bottled water. We go through more bedding in a day than most people do in a month. We follow the animal welfare act guidelines, plus some. We are USDA licensed as a dealer of animals and we are inspected. We have not had any violations.
NO, we do not sell dangerous animals or any animal that you need a permit for....but....we do sell food for them. If you own an exotic animal, please contact us with your food and supply needs. We are trying to make sure that animal owner have easy access to what they need to keep their animals happy and healthy.
We have an online store. You can see our prices and what we have in stock. If it is not listed, contact us. We might be out or waiting on the next shipment. If not, we might be able to order it for you. We offer pick up today service, delivery and shipping. We can not ship animals, feeders or glass products (fish tanks) at this time.
Our store is also a Wish Pick up location. NO we do not sell Wish products. We are only a pick up site and have no control over your order. Wish ships your purchases to us and we hold them until you pick them up or Wish tells us what to do with them. We don’t know what is in your packages and we don’t know who they are for. They give us a code to identify them when you arrive to pick up. We make next to nothing for storing your products until you pick them up. We only signed up to help keep porch theft down by allowing you to have your products held until you can get them.
