Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary Our mission is to give all pets (big and small) a second chance at finding a loving forever home.

Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary is a non profit foster home based animal rescue run by volunteers. Our volunteers donate their time outside of their full time jobs and family to help animals in need. We rescue all kind of animals: Dogs, cats, small animals, birds and even reptiles. We rescue animals from kill shelters, animal control and owner surrenders. Our rescue is unique in that we also work wit

h animals with disabilities. We get no grants or any type of funding, but rely on adoption fees, donors, and sponsorships to help continue our work helping the animals that need us. We also conduct fundraisers to raise necessary funds to provide care for our foster animals. We are located in many different areas: Aurora, Oswego, Chicago, Joliet, and even Northwest Indiana. "Penelope (aka Princess Penny) is an approximately 4 yr old standard gray female chinchilla looking for a forever home that has previous chinchilla experience. She is very sweet and enjoys head pets and chin scritches once she learns to trust you. Until then she can be a bit guarded and moody. As some chins do, she will sometimes display a bit of sassy attitude but she is also very treat motivated, so that can be the gateway to her heart, lol. She has developed a bad habit of fur biting in the last year- as you can see on her back in some of her photos. Her previous owner’s vet cleared her of any possible related health issues and felt it was Penny’s response to stress. She will absolutely need a large enclosure like a Midwest DOUBLE Critter Nation/Ferret Nation cage or something similar in dimensions (24”D x 36”W x 63”H) because smaller cages really do stress her out! So proof of an adequately sized cage will be necessary for adoption approval. She loves to run on her 15” Chin Spin wheel and it’s made a huge difference in her being more relaxed in her foster home, but she didn’t seem to know what to do with an Exotic Nutrition 14” Treadmill Wheel at all and just ignored it for weeks, lol. She adores chewing up applewood sticks, rolling in her dust bath 3 times each week and climbing all over you in a fenced-in play area several times a week. Bell and Pepper are two year-old little Gerbil girls. They love to dig and tunnel and play, their favorite thing is shredding empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls They will crawl in and on their foster mom's hands and take treats but for the most part they prefer playing They are currently in a large deep bin which gives them plenty of room for their favorite activities. They are sweet and entertaining but if you're looking for a new family member to play with and hold they are probably not for you. Fur Angels would like to wish you all an Early Happy New Year! We want to remind everyone to be safe and keep your pets safe during this holiday. Often, there'd be fireworks and many terrified pets will bolt from your yard. Keep them safely indoors and if you must take your dogs outside, keep them secured. Don't forget about your pets indoors and find ways to create a calming safe environment for them. Be safe, and see you all next year! Poppy came into rescue on 7/29/2024, at just under two weeks old. She was brought in as a bottle baby, needing round the clock feedings. She was tiny but healthy and thrived in her foster home. She is a precious girl, lively but snuggly. Once she’s worn out from play, she will happily curl up with you on the sofa. She is fully vetted and spayed. Her foster mom will be sad to see her go to a new home, but knows she will make a family very happy once she finds her furever home with them. Poppy and Finn are bonded, so could go as a pair or individually. Their foster home has older cats and a dog and lots of time spent with young kids. They should adapt well to any environment. ❤️ Her adoption fee is $175.00. If you wish adopt Poppy and Finn, the adoption fee is $300 for the pair. W***y is a wiggly, silly boy full of energy and love. He does enjoy pets on his head and around his ears. He also loves to run and jump and explore during out of cage time. W***y is 4-5 years old and came to us when his former no longer had time for him. Chinchillas need fairly large cage. A double Midwest ferret or critter nation is the recommended size for a Chinchilla. They need lots of ledges to jump and play and a 15 “ solid metal exercise wheel if you are not able to give a couple hours out of cage trained daily to burn out their energy. If you are not familiar with proper diet and chinchilla care, we are happy to help you with accurate information. His adoption fee is $150. Buddy is an 18 year old female cockatiel who spent her entire life with her person, who unfortunately passed away recently. She is a curious and motivated bird who is very interested in whatever you are eating or drinking. She is hand tame, and will step up without any issue. She is used to being out of her cage most of the day, and is much more interested in spending time with humans than birds. Donnatelo is a Hermann's tortoise, she is approximately five years old has been checked out by an exotic vet and deemed to be healthy. Her previous owner was unable to keep her and she was surrendered to Fur Angels. Donnatelo is a very gentle soul in her cold weather mode so sleeping a little more and eating a little less but she loves Romaine lettuce. She also enjoys some out of habitat exploring Hermann's tortoises have a lifespan of approximately 70 to 100 years so it's a good idea to make plans for their future. Tortoise experience would be very helpful. Her adoption fee is $150.
