Fur Angels Animal Sanctuary Our mission is to give all pets (big and small) a second chance at finding a loving forever home.

h animals with disabilities. We get no grants or any type of funding, but rely on adoption fees, donors, and sponsorships to help continue our work helping the animals that need us. We also conduct fundraisers to raise necessary funds to provide care for our foster animals. We are located in many different areas: Aurora, Oswego, Chicago, Joliet, and even Northwest Indiana. Aurora (dob 5/21/24) is a shy, stubborn little girl, but once she warms up, there's no stopping her. She is always happy to play with any of her cat siblings. She loves to chase the laser pointer and wrestle with her siblings. She is up to date with vaccinations, spayed, and microchipped.

Nutter Butter and Puddin are a pair of bonded males. Nutter Butter is a one year old skinny, hairless except for his brown furry nose. Puddin is a five year old American short hair. They are an engaging, sweet pair.

Both boys love feasting on a variety of fresh vegetables and lounging in their fleece sleeping bags. Puddin is quite a cuddle pig and very much enjoys lap time. They will happily take treats from your hand and will wheek to remind you when it's the all important mealtime!

Skinny pigs do require a bit more care so please research skinny pigs if you are interested in adopting them. We are also happy to answer any questions you might have about their care.

This pair of New Zealand/ Lionhead mix bunnies would make a fun loving addition to your family. Smudge (DOB 8/11/19) and Cadbury (DOB 11/11/19) are a 5yr old bonded pair. They are neutered/spayed, litter box trained, microchipped and UTD on their RHDV2 vaccines.

This adorable rascally rowdy pair would do best in a free roam situation where they have lots of space to burn off all that energy. Home would need to be bunny-proofed as these two are inventive and will find ways to play with almost any everyday item at their disposal. They are very friendly and entertaining, they don’t mind being handled and will come snuggle next to you if by their choice (once they know and trust you).

If penned up, Smudge becomes food aggressive which gets better with time and freedom to roam.

While this pair is good with children they would do best in a home with children old enough to understand bunny boundaries and respect.

These two sweet buns need a loving family with patience and kindness.

Cracker and Biscuit are adorable baby boy rats born in the rescue in 11-6-24. They and have been handled since birth. Cracker (left side image attached) is definitely the most social of the two, and will greet you at the door of the enclosure, accept scratches and does very well with handling.

Biscuit (right) is a bit more shy, he will only greet at the enclosure to accept treats and then run off with them. He is a very sweet and gentle boy, but not as social with humans compared to his brother. He is able to be handled and is very calm when handled.

Wolfgang (dob 5/21/24) is a happy kitty who loves to investigate. He is always the first one to run to the window as foster momma leaves for work. He is smart and playful, loves to chase strings and do zoomies with his siblings. Wolfgang is ready to join a family. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date with vaccines.

Ducky and Daffy are an adorable pair of parakeets. Ducky has a deformed beak which needs to be trimmed every 4-6 weeks. This can be done at a vet, or you can do it yourself if you are experienced and comfortable with it. Daffy was missing most of her beak when she came to us and it is slowly growing in nicely. Numfar is approximately 13-15 years old. He is a sweet senior chinchilla whom ended up in foster care with us when his owner unexpectedly passed away. Meet our sweet, shy foster rats, still learning to trust and bloom into their personalities! Casserole, Cranberry Sauce, and Ham are the social butterflies—always up for a greeting and eager for attention. Turkey and Pumpkin Pie are a little more timid and take their time warming up, but once they’re in your arms, they relax and enjoy the snuggles. All the girls are big fans of Cheerios and will gently take treats from your hand, though they can get a bit grabby through the bars. With a little patience and love, these girls are sure to become the most delightful companions!

The ideal situation would be to keep all five together. If they must be split up, the older girls, Casserole and Ham, should stay together, and Pumpkin Pie, Turkey, and Cranberry should stay together.

Their adoption fee is 85 for all five, 40 for the pair, and 55 for the trio.

Finn came into rescue on 8/31/2024, at approximately two weeks old. Finn was brought in as a bottle baby, but struggled with the bottle, so we quickly switched him to mushy solid food. He adapted well and thrived in his foster home. Finn is a sweet, feisty boy. He is very independent, but will follow you everywhere chatting to you continuously. Finn has been a very verbal baby since day one. Finn loves his foster home’s dog and curls up with her whenever he can. Once he tired himself out he will curl up with his foster mom as well. Finn is fully vetted and neutered. Finn’s foster mom is not ready to let him go, but when his furever family is found, she will sadly and happily let him go.

Poppy and Finn are bonded, so could go as a pair or individually. Their foster home has older cats and a dog and lots of time spent with young kids. They should adapt well to any environment.
Adoption fee for Finn is $175 If adopted with Poopy as a pair, adoption fee is $300 for the pair.

Howie and Raj are a pair of sweet, calm, gentle boys approximately 2 years old. They came to us when their family no longer had time for them. Howie and Raj are shy at first so please give them some time to warm up. You won’t regret it! They both enjoy being held, pet and snuggled. They love their veggies, Oxbow Guinea pig pellet food, and of course their hay! They absolutely love snacking on hay throughout the day. Howie and Raj are inseparable buddies. Even when out of cage for play time, they are always together. There are six brothers currently in this group: Leonard, Antonio, Heebie, Jeebie, William and Benton. They were born in January after their mothers came into the rescue after being kept in poor conditions in a closing pet store. These boys are shy but gentle and will need time to adjust to their new home. They can be adopted in pairs or more.

Proof of a proper enclosure is required: one with solid floors and shelved to prevent foot injuries, bar spacing small enough to prevent escape or heads getting caught, good ventilation to prevent respiratory issues, and enough room to climb, explore, and provide enrichment activities like digging, burrowing, and balancing. Like other animals, rats are very intelligent and need mental stimulation. Four cubic feet per rat is optimal. Rats are heat sensitive, so cage placement is important: an area in the home that does not get too hot in the warmer weather.

"Penelope (aka Princess Penny) is an approximately 4 yr old standard gray female chinchilla looking for a forever home that has previous chinchilla experience. She is very sweet and enjoys head pets and chin scritches once she learns to trust you. Until then she can be a bit guarded and moody. As some chins do, she will sometimes display a bit of sassy attitude but she is also very treat motivated, so that can be the gateway to her heart, lol. She has developed a bad habit of fur biting in the last year- as you can see on her back in some of her photos. Her previous owner’s vet cleared her of any possible related health issues and felt it was Penny’s response to stress. She will absolutely need a large enclosure like a Midwest DOUBLE Critter Nation/Ferret Nation cage or something similar in dimensions (24”D x 36”W x 63”H) because smaller cages really do stress her out! So proof of an adequately sized cage will be necessary for adoption approval. She loves to run on her 15” Chin Spin wheel and it’s made a huge difference in her being more relaxed in her foster home, but she didn’t seem to know what to do with an Exotic Nutrition 14” Treadmill Wheel at all and just ignored it for weeks, lol. She adores chewing up applewood sticks, rolling in her dust bath 3 times each week and climbing all over you in a fenced-in play area several times a week. Bell and Pepper are two year-old little Gerbil girls. They love to dig and tunnel and play, their favorite thing is shredding empty paper towel and toilet paper rolls They will crawl in and on their foster mom's hands and take treats but for the most part they prefer playing They are currently in a large deep bin which gives them plenty of room for their favorite activities. They are sweet and entertaining but if you're looking for a new family member to play with and hold they are probably not for you. Gerbil owners understand, they definitely have a different personality from hamsters. Adoption fee for this adorable pair is $40. Please complete an application for adoption at FurAngelsAS.org
