If you see a loose dog, Do Not pick it up and bring it to us. The pound is Full. Please call dispatch at 417-316-6006 and report the dog. We Will come! When a dog is brought to us, you remove our ability to get that dog back home where we can speak with the owner. We would much rather get a dog back home, educate owners and, if need be, hold them accountable. Picking up a dog is a last resort and only to keep the dog safe.
We have no room in the pound. If you decide to pick up a dog, be prepared to hold that dog until we have room. Thank you. 😊🐾

Good Morning Aurora! Are you looking for sweet new fur baby?

Smiling Largo has been in the pound since June! He is a Rottweiler mix and 70 lbs of solid, compact muscle with a heart of Gold! Sweet, sweet Largo sits here because he is a large male. That's it..no other reason. But he deserves a loving home as much as any Chihuahua, shihtzu or little foofoo dog. Largs is the Best! He loves kids. And I'm willing to bet he would be fine with cats although he's not been tested. I would even bet he is housetrained. Largo will need a fenced in yard. I don't know why, but he is scared of leashes. He freezes and tries to get between your legs if you put one on him. But I'm sure with time, patience and a gentle hand, he could learn. But 7 months is a ridiculous amount of time for a gem like him to be sitting in a rural pound. If your interested in learning more, please call dispatch at 417-316-6006 and ask for Animal Control.
