It means so much to me when people put their animals in my care, especially when that animal has behavioral challenges that can make it extra stressful to find a trusted petsitter. Hi friends! Don't forget to get your pets on my schedule if you're going away this summer. Things are filling up fast! June & August are almost fully booked up, with good availability in July still. Howdy! I'm Karuna and I'm a positive reinforcement dog trainer, pet care provider, and the owner of Barks & Rec Atx. I've been working with animals almost all my life. From walking & sitting as a kid, to my first job as a kennel assistant at a vet office, to my career as a professional dog trainer. With this experience, I started Barks & Rec Atx to be able to give your pets well-rounded care in all areas of life.

I began my dog training journey at PetSmart about 2.5yrs ago. I was able to learn all the basics of training, and started to understand how dogs learn & communicate. I taught lots of classes and continued to research, talk with other trainers, and grow my knowledge. Eventually, I realized how much I love working one-on-one with clients, so I can dedicate all my attention on that dog and tailor the training to what fits their personality. This is what inspired me to start my own business.

I also bring my expertise to the table when it comes to walks, field trips, & petsitting. Our animals are our family, and I want to be a part of that family by meeting all your pet care needs. I truly love the animals I work with, and take special care to get to know each of them individually. And that's not just with dogs - it's also cats, reptiles, small critters, or any animal that needs care.

Right now, I'm primarily servicing Central Austin and North Austin. Clients outside these areas will be considered, and a mileage fee to accommodate gas and travel time may be added. My service area may change in the future, but this is my map for the rest of 2023 😊
