Meet Teddy!

Teddy is a rescue dog from San Marcos who has been with his owner since October. He has an abundance of energy and big emotions, especially when guests visit or when he spots other dogs. Teddy's enthusiasm for life is infectious, but it can sometimes manifest as hu***ng behavior.

We're actively working on a plan to help Teddy learn to regulate himself in a way that suits his unique personality and strengths. Teddy is a delightful mix of lab, pit bull, German Shepherd, and a bit of everything else!

He's incredibly athletic and strong, with a nose that's truly remarkable.

Teddy is the sweetest dog, full of energy, and he reminds me so much of my own furry friend!

Meet Cacao our new puppy client! She’s a five-month-old Cavapoo!

We love this breed!

Smaller dogs tend to have a little trouble finalizing their potty training, and it can also take a little longer than a larger dog. This doesn’t mean anything except that the guardians should take extra care and be prepared so the dog has a longer potty training journey.

We’re excited to be the puppy potty training experts.

When bringing a dog home for the first time, it's essential to prioritize bonding over immediate training commands. Building a connection with your dog allows you to better understand their unique personality, anxieties, learning challenges, and what motivates them.

Every dog is distinct, influenced by various factors such as age, breed, previous learning experiences, genetics, and the first 16 weeks of their life, as well as any unresolved traumatic experiences. Understanding that each dog learns in its own way is crucial. I am looking for someone who is seeking dog training hours to take the CPDT exam for dog trainer certification. I can offer them 6 hours of dog training hours in a class on Saturdays from 10 to 11 a.m.

Non-paid, but they will learn a lot in the specialty class.

Amen to this! It is very true, but a big misunderstanding is that R+ training doesn't include discipline! I've also found it's essential to discuss the human client's views of what R+ means to them and their views on discipline. I've learned over the years that owners do not want to discipline much and are okay with more mischief than I'd recommend as a trainer, but in the end, it's their dog. :)🤩

Using positive reinforcement really means teaching what we want the dog to do - rewarding it - and punishing less - especially using fear or pain as a punishment.

Working with Fetch Worthy, we have a massive toolbox of creative and fun, game-like ways to discipline without using pain or fear. This has taken me years of experience working with all types of human and dog clients from many walks of life.

Fetch Worthy knows how to train your dog kindly and effectively. You'll need time, patience, and practice, but that is our promise to you.

Of course effective discipline is an integral part of positive training, but discipline is used by positive trainers and owners to guide the dog into making the right choices and eventually thinking for himself.

Kai has to be involved in training, and he is always doing the cue and ready for his reward.

A smart dog is never going to pass up a good opportunity !

The only way to keep him out of the way is using this pen, or crating him while he watches, but he gets rewarded intermittently !

It works out great!!

Feeling proud of Bridie all four pounds and her bravery!

She had never spent time around other dogs - and would go on the attack.

At our Board and Train, with proper positive introductions, she got along with Kai and another younger pup. She left here more confident and relaxed. Her mom was saying just how calm she was upon her return!
