Training puppies for five years and their humans: the #1 mistake is focusing too much on the things your puppy is doing wrong instead of focusing on what they are doing right.
****This pattern of interactions with your puppy guarantees an attention-seeking puppy that will drive you crazy.***
*One reason this is common is that we are flooded with everyone's opinion online (and now mine) about what is bad or dangerous for your puppy, so we keep everything out of their mouth.
**Second, more people are working from home, resulting in more time with the puppy around us. Puppies really DO need to spend time alone in a quiet crate without any outside sound. They need to sleep, rest, and reset more often than we think - make it a true Zen Den experience. Leave the house often, let others take care of your puppy overnight, and work out of the house for a block of time every day.
💡Start early, rather than responding to something going wrong: proactive vs. reactive training.
