This adorable girl came to see us after her owners noticed some nasal discharge and congestion. After a thorough examination, Roxy was diagnosed with an upper respiratory disease. ☹️ We gave her some fluids and sent her home with an antibiotic and a medication to help control her cough. We hope you feel better soon, Roxy! ❤️💙

Meet Simba! This sweet girl came to see us after her owners noticed a wound on her behind ☹️ after a thorough examination, our veterinarian discovered it was an a**l gland abscess. We sedated Simba to clean and flush the wound then sent her home with an antibiotic and some pain medications to keep her comfortable while she heals! Wishing you a speedy recovery sweet girl! 🐶❤️💙

Say hi to our care team member, Sam, and sweet little Barney, who came in dealing with some tummy troubles—diarrhea and vomiting. We ran a parasite screening to get to the bottom of things, and luckily didn’t find anything out of the ordinary. Barney’s owner’s will keep a close eye on him and give him lots of TLC! Luna had quite the adventure before earning her Pet of the Week title! This sweet girl got into some granola with raisins, which can be toxic to dogs. We quickly induced vomiting to recover most of the raisins, ran bloodwork to check her kidney values (which thankfully came back normal), and gave her fluids and an anti-nausea injection to keep her feeling her best.

Luna was such a brave girl through it all, and we’re so glad we were able to be there for her 🐾💙

The holiday season is always full of surprises and touching stories, but this particular one warmed the hearts of our team. This past Thanksgiving, Jenn, a Girl Scout Troop Leader and one of her Girl Scouts, Anita, entered our clinic with a feral cat. Anita had been caring for this furry friend, who had made her neighborhood its home for the past three years. One evening, she called Jenn desperately seeking help after she discovered that her furry friend had been attacked and was near death.

Jenn sprang into action, bringing Anita and Ember into UrgentVet Cary, NC. She was prepared to have the difficult conversation with Anita, explaining that the cat might not survive the attack. Thanks to the UrgentVet Cary team, Ember is almost fully recovered! Jenn reports that Anita has been doing an amazing job looking after him and his wound as he continues to recover at her house.

Anita was prepared to sacrifice all the money her mom had saved for her Christmas presents to save Ember’s life. While Jenn had the resources to help, and our team had the means to save Ember, we knew this story didn’t end there.

The team at UrgentVet Cary was so touched by Anita’s dedication this animal in-need, that they rewarded her with a $300 gift card. We hope she continues to nurture her love for animals, and we can’t wait to see all the amazing things Anita will do in the future!

🍗 Watch the menu. Avoid sharing turkey bones, rich foods, or anything with onions, garlic, or spices.
🧺 Secure the trash. Curious noses can find harmful leftovers.
🍫 Skip the sweets. Chocolate, xylitol, and raisins are toxic to pets.

Halloween is tomorrow! 👻 Before the fun starts, let’s make sure your pets stay safe:
🍬 Hide the candy - Chocolate and sugar-free treats can be toxic, so keep them far from curious noses.
🕯️ Skip the candles - Battery-operated lights are a safer bet around wagging tails.
🚪 Calm the chaos - If your pet gets nervous with all the doorbell ringing, set them up in a quiet room with their favorite toy.
🦴 Keep costumes comfy - If your pet's not into dressing up, a festive collar works just as well!

We used a woods lamp to determine if ringworm was a possibility and it was! We got him send home with some antibiotics for his eye, some eye drops and a recommendation for a cream to treat the ringworm.
