Hi friends! (I know it’s been a while🙃).

I wanted to make a special post about something near and dear to my heart.

Petsitting.

I’ve been petsitting for this lovely city of Austin as well as its surrounding neighborhoods for almost the entire 10 years I’ve been living in Texas! Taking care of other people’s pets has pretty much become part of the definition of Alex Weldon.
Over the years I’ve made dozens and dozens of connections with people and their pets. So many people have opened up their homes for me to come stay and care for their animals and I will be forever grateful to each client of mine.

However, I have decided after this year, going into 2025, I will no longer be petsitting in the capacity that I do now.

In the last year or so, I have been booked with so many petsits that I hardly have time to be at home with my own cats. (This month, I’ve only slept in my own bed for a total of 5 nights).
As great as this may sound income-wise, I’m finding that l’m losing who I am as a human being. The burnout is finally catching up to me.
What used to be a lil side hustle has become something that consumes SO much of my time and life.

I work full time as a vet tech so I spend all day seeing peoples pets, then I get off and go home to take care of other peoples pets and if I’m lucky, I get about 2 hours a day at home with my own cats.
I’ve been neglecting my own self and my life to take care of other peoples pets and homes and I hate saying it, but I’m exhausted with this responsibility.

I understand that I am partly to blame because I have a hard time saying no. All of my clients are special to me and I hate the idea of them not having someone they trust to care for their fur babies. And before anyone asks, I don’t have the intentions of “hiring” people to do the jobs for me simply bc I know my clients have peace of mind when they book me and I never intended for my side hustle to become a full business🤷🏼‍♀️

With that being said, to all of my current clients, you are always more than welcome to contact me if you ever need a sitter and if I’m feeling up for it and I’m available, I may just say yes😉

Petsitting is not as easy as it may seem. It’s A LOT of responsibility and as I’ve hit this “wise age” of 30, I’m learning that no amount of money is worth my time or my peace. I wanna live my own life and enjoy my own space with my own pets.

Thank you to everyone who has taken the time to read this and to all of my clients. Your pets will always have a special place in my heart but it’s nearing the end of my time in the petsitting world.
