Just 2 days after my 1 year anniversary with US Storage Centers was my last day. On April 8th(Eclipse Day!) I started my new position as an Inventory Specialist at Spacex in Bastrop.
I absolutely love the people that I am working with, every day I have to pinch myself that I am working here in this amazing facility. I am doing things that I never thought I would be doing like driving a forklift(sometimes!), and feel so at home here.

March 31st 1989, James bought Rivers and Reefs Pet Center in downtown Round Rock. He moved it to Barton Springs Road in 92 and to South Congress Ave in 1997. Here are a few pictures from the South Congress location before we moved to First Street.
We closed down our First Street location Feb 26th 2023.

On Christmas we went out and tried something new to us. We went to SoupLeaf Hot Pot, and figured our way through the meal. It was great!
We have been reflecting on this last year and all the things we have gone through. Starting it very hopeful that we were going a good direction with the shop. To the ice storm and very quickly having to shut down. James went back to school. And at the company Christmas party they announced his promotion to Lead Customer Service. Rachel got a promotion to Property Manager(from Assistant) as well. So different from where we were a year ago and while we still keep touch a bit through social media, boarding our regulars in our home, and those who stop by Home Depot and visit with James, it's you, our customers, friends, and even former employees that we miss the most and are most appreciative to. You have helped us become the people we are today.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

A funny thing happened on the way to Law School...

Back in 1983, James was studying at UT to become a lawyer, and working at a fish shop to finance his aquarium habit. One thing led to another and he graduated with a business degree and after managing one shop, and working as an on-the-road salesman for a manufacturer of aquarium supplies, he bought Rivers & Reefs Pet Center in downtown Round Rock in 1989. After a couple moves, including the big one to South Austin, Rachel joined the store in 2003, having already worked at a fish importer & distributor for a few years.

Together they have worked on expanding Rivers & Reefs level of expertise, dropping reef aquariums, but picking up hand-fed companion birds, locally raised reptiles, and knowledge and experience with cats, dogs, and small animals.
