Five essential tips to keep your pets safe this Easter!

1. Use safe alternative to Easter grass. These synthetic strings can cause intestinal blockage if ingested. Line Easter baskets with safe alternatives like tissue paper or shredded paper instead!

2. Keep chocolate and candy out of reach. Both chocolate and many sugar free candies are toxic if ingested by pets. Keep them well out of reach of your pet to avoid any mishaps!

3. Limit table scraps and opt for pet friendly treats. We know it is very tempting to share whatever you are eating with your furry friend but some human food can pose serious risk to your pet. Instead opt for pet friendly treats.

4. Create a safe and quiet space for your pet. Easter festivities can become loud and crowded which can be overwhelming for some pets. Be sure to create a peaceful comfortable place for your pet to retreat to if needed.

5. Avoid Easter lilies. Easter lilies are extremely toxic to your cats. The entire plant is toxic: the stem, the leaves, flowers, pollen, and even the water in the vase. Find a space where your cat cannot reach the flower, if that is not possible it is best to avoid having lilies in the house altogether.

We hope you and your pet have a wonderful Easter!!

Are looking for your new best friend? Well we have just the dog for you! Meet Rosie! Dr. Ashbaugh has been fostering Rosie since late January when she was found abandoned and underweight in Bastrop. In the past few months she has been thriving and gaining weight well! Rosie is a lab mix and approximately 1 year old. She is house trained and doing very well on leash training. She gets along well with Dr. Ashbaugh’s dog but has not been exposed to cats. She is very sweet! She loves cuddles and going on walks. She is pretty active and has been going running with Dr. Ashbaugh’s son. She will be spayed in March, fully vaccinated and will have at least 6 months of heartworm/flea prevention. This lovable girl is ready for her forever family! Please let us know if you or anyone you know are interested by calling/texting the clinic at 512-482-8600 or emailing us at [email protected].

Happy Pet Dental Health Month! Dental health is very important to your pets overall wellbeing. Dental problems can cause other health issues. Your pets teeth should be examined by a veterinarian at least once a year to ensure your pets teeth are healthy and to look for signs of dental disease. You should have your pets teeth checked sooner if you notice any of the problems shown in the photo. Remember for all of February dental procedures are 10% off!
