✨Fascia release for the win today ✨

Noticeable tension from thoracic to lumbar section of this ponies spine and a slight rotation in SI.

Still a little bit of work to go but happy with the progress made today.

Felt cute, might stick with dressage 😂
But seriously, today was filled with a TON of lightbulb moments 💡
As some people know, I have an extra vertebrae in my spine that’s actually fractured. I’m “technically” not clear to ride since every time I would jump it would cause severe pain in my lower back and on the back of my pelvis. (Sorry doc, I just need this therapy 😂)
I have to say, after sitting in a dressage saddle I have ZERO pain. Maybe it’s the position of my pelvis in the saddle? Less pressure on my back? Who knows. But I’m HERE FOR IT! 👏👏👏
I have a lot to learn but I’m determined to get back to where I was, better than that actually. 🐎
Thank you Ms. Jennifer for taking your time to explain things to me and spark this love for dressage today. ❤️

Releasing the lower back, one Reiner at a time.
Tension is noticeable around the last rib and continuing into the hind end. This type of tension can cause an alter in stride, balance and ability to bend.

🚨LETS RELEASE SOME RHOMBOIDS 🐎🚨

Rhomboids are the deep muscle located at the top of your horses neck. The first part is located on the top of the neck at the cervical section and the second is located in the thoracic region near the withers.

The rhomboids are responsible for retracting, elevating and rotating the scapula. (Picking up and putting down the front leg)

When these muscles get tight it can alter your horses gate to short stride, become choppy in stride, along with the inability to lift and round its neck and free their shoulder movement. (Among a few others)

Since the rhomboids act as your counter balance to the horses movement this can be a cause of lack of strength in the hind end or hyperflexion of the neck due to the riders hands holding too much tension, which drives the horses neck downwards and the horse cannot move with proper self carriage.

With a heavy workload it’s very common for sport horses to get tense along the back with tension in glutes and hamstrings.
It’s important to keep your horses on a regular bodywork schedule to help avoid compensation and further any tension that could cause serious injuries down the road.

When horses legs are cocked like this it typically indicates pain in or around the lower lumbar portion of the back, hip flexors, hamstrings and glutes.
After accupressure and going in to release the fascia, Percy is standing more comfortable.

Effective immediately, if you have an open invoice with me and I have already tried to contact you to close it you will be charged $20/ day for each day that it’s late.

Payment is due before or at the time of service.

If you cancel our appointment within 24 hours you will be charged the full amount of your apt. Prepayment will be required for your next session that is booked.
I understand things happen sometimes that are out of your control. In certain instances I will waive the fee. Three consecutive reschedules will result in you finding another practitioner.

Let’s release those ✨pecs✨

Did you know the Posterior pecs (deep ascending or descending) are heavily affected by the girth and can cause horses to be “girthy”? Yep, that’s right! Those nasty little “tantrums” they throw when you tighten their girth don’t have to continue to happen!

Truth is, no matter what their work schedule is, every horse is at risk for having sore Pectorals as the Pecs are a major part in lifting their legs and absorbing concussion after a jump.

When I was in massage school I had a teacher who told us the horses neck “wasn’t important to massage”. I remember looking at my classmates and wondering how we would be doing the best job we could while skipping the neck, where the balance is.
Thankfully, I didn’t listen to this misinformation and I’ve helped transform thousands of horses lives through releasing that fascia tension and resetting cervical vertebrae.

It is never “just a maintenance massage” like it’s not important to me because your horse isn’t “broken”.

No.

MAINTENANCE IS PREVENTION.

Too often I hear “well they don’t need bodywork because they’re not lame” I get it. But if you have a horse that’s working a lot or just coming back into work, you have to help off set the changes that are happening with their bodies. Changes that could slowly start to alter gaits because of being out of shape that slowly start building bad habits. .
Which ultimately leads to them being lame, many vets, corrective farriers, specialists, scopes, injections…(etc.) and no real solid answers on how to “fix” your partner.

Let’s avoid that headache and get AHEAD of the potential problem!

Myth: you only get stronger at riding by doing it more Sure, there’s some truth behind “doing it more, you get better/stronger at it.” However, spending time in the saddle isn’t the only thing that’s going to help your Riding. Focusing and improving on your physical fitness outside of the saddle is EXTREMELY important. Not only for you, but for your horse as well. This doesn’t have to mean you run 5 miles a day or go for the next bodybuilding world title. But simply improving areas to improve your stability and control will help give clear and effective aids in the saddle. And save your horses from compensating from our “weaker sides”! Yes, when we have a weaker side it gets transferred to our horses! Thus causing that well known “domino” affect you hear me talk about oh so often. If your horse is sensitive when grooming around their pecs, or pinning their ears when you go to tighten their girth you may need to address pec soreness. When horses have these muscle spasms like this it indicates a pain response. This horse palpated with a pain response around the withers which is also the saddle support region of the body. Knowing the signs and what to look for not only help your horses longevity but also help keep you and your horse safe. When horses are in pain they “act out”. Some Examples of uncomfortabiloty include (but are not limited to) bucking, rearing, biting, being girthy and sensitive to light touch like this. This is also a good example of why it’s important to stay on a consistent bodywork schedule so we can stay ahead of any possible issues. On top of regularly checking saddle fit. Have questions? I can’t tell you how many calls I get a week with people asking me if I trim or shoe horses. When I inform them I do bodywork 9/10 times they respond with “oh well my horse doesn’t need that” which leads me to ask, why keep your farrier on a regular schedule and not your bodyworker? Especially when we work closely together. . In reality, all horses can benefit from bodywork. . Keeping your horse on a monthly schedule also acts as a “check in” to keep up with any muscular skeletal changes that can happen fast, and pretty easily.
