So excited! Brett has been working hard with our buddy Jim this past month to create a fence for our back and side yards. We have 5 acres with country fencing that’s not secure for our dogs, so this has been a big and vital project. He still has to cut the posts down at the top and build 4 gates, but we’re almost there!

A lot of people ask me where puppies are born at our house. We’re lucky to have a large master bathroom that accommodates the whelping box perfectly!

This is a pic of Molly, who was in the middle of whelping 11 puppies here. We lay a waterproof pad down underneath the whelping box, and have all of our other supplies on the bathroom countertop.

Mamas in labor need a quiet, peaceful, and safe place to have their puppies. No visitors or other dogs are allowed during this process - her peace comes before anything else! Actually, no other dogs are EVER allowed to approach the whelping box and litter.

Mama and puppies will stay here in the bathroom for 2 weeks minimum, then we move them to a larger space. During this time, we leave the bathroom door open so she can join the family as she needs/wants to.

We are fortunate to be able to experience this new life coming into the world - our mamas are precious to us, and their puppies are tiny treasures.

Just came back from an amazing quick vacay up to Philly - took my younger son and visited my older son and DIL! One of the things we did was visit — the outside gardens were still pretty dormant but the conservatory was AMAZING! Absolutely stunning. I can’t tell you how many pics I took of the kids sniffing flowers 😂. No matter how much you love what you do, it’s important to take breaks to refresh your spirit. 🌸🌿🌼🍃🌸

What’s cuter than a box of puppies? Luna’s 8 darlings had to hang out while we cleaned their play area. It only takes a few minutes each day, but it’s such an important part of our biosecurity!

We change out the waterproof pad, wipe down and disinfect all nearby surfaces, and replace fresh water.

As they get bigger, we move them into a 4x4 pen while we clean, so this is likely the last time they’ll be in their baby box!

One of the amazing guardian dogs in our program, Poppy, has earned her Canine Good Citizen award! Her guardian Cathy has done an extraordinary job socializing her - Poppy is an absolute dream of a dog. Congratulations Poppy - good girl!

We are currently accepting applications for new guardian homes in the Austin area - DM us for more info! Our guardians allow us to grow our breeding program without using commercial kennels, they get a free Bernedoodle puppy, and when she’s retired from the program, she’s theirs forever!

First wildflower sighting in one of our pastures! This is Castilleja or Indian Paintbrush, one of my favorites because of its coral color. I’m also spotting some verbena out there, too!
🌸 Last summer’s hot and dry summer compared to adequate / spaced out rain in the fall and winter should make for a spectacular wildflower season in Central Texas this year.

Love our whelper .hopkins.atx — little baby Holly was fussy tonight so she put her in a sling to carry her around! Now that’s dedication. ❤️ Holly’s new owner is going to love how this puppy (and the rest of her litter mates) has been so beautifully raised.

Also, this litter is named after characters in Die Hard, the ultimate Christmas movie. Fight me on this.

In the middle of Christmas busyness, one of our guardians texted me these pics! This family bought Birdie (first pic) from us, then realized how much they love our program and the individual way we raise such exceptional puppies, and they joined our Guardian Home program immediately with Cash (second pic).

The only way we can grow our breeding program without using commercial kennels is by entrusting our dogs to guardian homes. All of our dogs and puppies are raised in loving and safe home environments like Erin & Nicole’s.

If you are interested in becoming a guardian, please DM us! We currently have a couple of older puppies available - female ultra bernedoodles! They are medium sized, and will have the same low-shed quality coats with less maintenance due to their higher percentage of Bernese genetics. They are truly special!

We lost Olive last night. Our piggie was just over 7 years old, and I’ve always said that she completed our farm. She really was some pig. 🐷 Olive Rose, may you have warm sunshine for taking naps, green pastures for rooting around, and mud baths for rolling around. You were very loved and we will miss you always.

We have two outside kitties that kind of came with the house. They’re brother and sister. The girl, Pixie, comes up to the porch regularly and I always have food out. We almost never see her brother (unnamed) but today they were both on the porch eating. As I was petting Pixie, she seems heavier to me, and I’m wondering if her brother knocked her up. Sigh. I guess I’ll find out if delivering kittens is similar to delivering puppies. 🐱 🐶

We love it when our guardian whelping homes send us pics of their puppies getting loved on by family members!

All of our puppies are raised in loving homes, no commercial kennels. This allows puppies to:

♥️ Become accustomed to normal household sights, sounds, and activities
♥️ Be loved on by multiple family members
♥️ Be exposed to children and their activity levels

Happy Halloween from Berkeley Farm! Brett asked why I decorated with so many pumpkins because we’re out in the country and nobody will see it. It’s because it makes me happy! We don’t have any Trick-or-Treaters but it’s still my favorite holiday. What’re you up to tonight? 👻 🕷️ 🎃 🧙 🧟‍♂️
