Our clinic’s towels have been working overtime keeping our furry patients warm, dry, and snuggly, and they’re ready for retirement! If you have any old towels looking for a second life, we’d love to give them a new job.

Big, small, fluffy, or flat we’ll happily take them all! Just drop them off during our regular hours and get a tail wag or a purr as thanks.

Thanks for helping us keep our critters comfy — we appreciate you!

Sweet Marbles was in for a recheck today, but found the perfect little hideaway under the desk instead. đŸ±đŸ’™

We can’t blame you, Marbles, the world feels a little safer with a cozy corner to curl up in.

Sending extra love to all our shy kitties (and their humans) this Monday!

A gentle reminder: Vet visits can be stressful for our more timid friends. If your cat gets nervous, bring a familiar blanket or toy, a little piece of home can make a big difference!

Protect Your Pup from Leptospirosis!

Did you know? Leptospirosis is a serious bacterial disease that can damage your dog’s kidneys and liver—and it can even be passed to humans!!

It’s most common in warm, wet environments (hello Austin!). Dogs can get infected by drinking from puddles, streams, or coming into contact with contaminated soil or urine from wildlife or infected dogs.

Symptoms can include:
Fever
Vomiting
Muscle pain
Lethargy
Kidney or liver failure in severe cases

The best protection is prevention! The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) now recommends the leptospirosis vaccine as a core vaccine—not just optional. That means it’s considered essential for all dogs, not just those in high-risk areas, particularly because it has been found in all 50 states, and it is a disease that can be passed on to people.

Annual vaccination is a safe and effective way to keep your dog and family protected.

Parasites Are a Year-Round Problem!

In Central Texas, our warm, humid climate means fleas, ticks, and mosquitoes never really take a break—and neither should your pet’s protection!

- Heartworm disease is spread by mosquitoes and can be deadly for dogs and cats.
- Ticks carry diseases like Lyme and Ehrlichia.
- Fleas can cause allergies, skin infections, and even tapeworms.
- Don’t forget about intestinal parasites like hookworms and roundworms—they can infect pets (and even people) without showing obvious signs.

That’s why monthly parasite prevention is a must—even in winter.
Prevention is not only safer, it’s MUCH more affordable than treatment for these illnesses

Stay ahead of the pests and protect your pet’s health year-round. We can help you choose the right product for your pet’s lifestyle.

Take advantage of our in clinic savings ($30 - $65 instant rebate) off Credelio Quattro to be fully covered for the year!

Happy Monday from Austin the orange cat!
Starting the week with a lap nap and some light desk supervision 🧡

Fun fact: Cats can sleep up to 16 hours a day — which makes Austin very qualified for his role as office nap consultant.

Hope your Monday is off to a cozy start too! What’s your pet’s favorite workday hangout?

May was Mental Health Awareness Month, and our team took part in a "Move for Mental Wellness" challenge! 🧠💚

In veterinary medicine, it's especially important to be mindful of your whole self — both mentally and physically. But really, that matters in every industry and every walk of life. Caring for others starts with caring for ourselves.

We joined over 240 veterinary clinics across the country in tracking mindful habits like getting enough sleep, staying hydrated, meditating, and getting active through movement.

As we tracked our progress, we also had some fun with creativity by coloring in a special "Move for Mental Wellness" poster. It started out blank and slowly filled in with each step forward. By the end of the month, it was a colorful reminder of the effort we put into our wellbeing.

Out of 240 clinics, our Highland’s team placed 46th overall, and we’re proud of the work we did together!!

Swipe through to see our poster’s transformation and a final snapshot with Dr. Pankonien and Zack in front of the finished piece đŸ’Ș💚
