Having your pet on a regular grooming schedule makes the process familiar and fun for them. It's just a part of their day, instead of being a big event that might seem scary. As a Fear Free facility, we recommend no longer than 6 weeks between grooming appointments so that we can be a regular part of your pet's life.

PJ the Shiba Inu is such a smarty pants! He learned “down” in his first day of training!

We could not be more proud of our sweet Greta girl! When Greta first came to us for desensitization she had to be fully sedated for nail trims, and we couldn’t even touch her paws. Our trainer Amber has tears in her eyes when she told Greta’s parents we were able to trim AND file her front nails the other day. Table training does work! Look at Sophia learning place! 😍 Sophia has a hard time not jumping on her parents when they get home from work. She’s just so excited to see them! Sophia is working on her impulse control and we are so proud of her! 🐾 We have training packages available, as well as doggy boot camp! 🐶

Well, all right Greta. 🙄😂👌 Greta is one of our desensitization dogs, and she’s been making great progress! We like to break up our sessions with play because it makes it more fun for the dogs!🐾 (Greta knows how to fetch and was engaged before she heard a noise and got distracted 😂)

About As the Fur Flies

As the Fur Flies is a day spa for pampered pets in east Austin, Texas. We are a team of experienced dog and cat groomers who love giving your pet a positive, enjoyable grooming experience. We do in shop grooming only, so we do not offer Mobile Grooming. We work with all breeds, ages, and sizes. Feel free to stop by and meet the team!

Our number one goal is to have pets leave us happier and better groomed than when they walked in. We like to talk to each customer to find out your goals for the grooming, the pet's experience being groomed, and anything else that can help us make it a positive experience for you and your pet.

Most of the time, we ask for about 3 hours turnaround time for a grooming. This gives us time to get acquainted with the pet and not rush through the process. This is especially important if there is any part of the grooming process the pet is not comfortable with, such as the blow dryer or having their nails trimmed. However, we do also offer express services for pets that need to get in and out more quickly, such as elderly pets or those with health issues. We like to tailor our services to each pet so that everyone leaves happy and is excited to return to us!
