Congratulations Hilda!!!!!

Hilda has been with us since May, waiting so so patiently for a family. The wait was long, but it was so very worth it. See, Hilda was meant to help her new parents heal from the loss of a previous ACR pup. And no pup will ever replace her, but Hilda is meant to heal. She will do everything she can to make her parents happy, and feel loved... And will probably drive them mad from kisses ๐Ÿ˜˜. We couldn't be more excited for this new match!

Congrats to the happy family! ๐Ÿ’•โค๏ธ๐Ÿฅฐ

Meet Uliana!

Uliana is about 5 years old and 6 lbs and comes to us from Abilene with her sister Shiloh. Like Shiloh, she was at risk of euthanasia due to being scared and aggressive in the kennel. As soon as she was sprung from the shelter, she immediately flipped a switch and immediately became part of her foster pack. She does need some time to get used to people and can be nippy until she becomes comfortable

But just look at the before and after pics ๐Ÿฅฐโค๏ธ

She blended in with her foster pack of small and large pups, and is learning a lot from them. She's been doing great pottying outside! She is a very calm girl and will sit patiently in her pup bed, and will come snuggle your lap when given a chance.

This girl has so much potential and has an amazing future ahead of her! She is already spayed and vaccinated and just ready for her new family โค๏ธ

Meet Vayda!

Vayda comes to us from AJK rescue. She was rescued and had a litter of pups. All her babies have found homes, but poor young mama didn't get any interest. So she has joined us at ACR in hopes of finding a forever fam.

Vayda is a young momma, and is only approximately 1.5 years young and about 7.8 lbs. Just a pup herself, she's already had at least one litter. Thankfully it's her last! Now Vayda is an empty nester and is looking for someone to baby her โค๏ธ

Vayda is very loving, and does well with other small pups, but above all, she loves her hoomans ๐Ÿ’•. She is absolutely a velcro dog, and wants to be at your side for as much as you can stand. If you need some space, she can take a hint and will go find a toy to play with until it's cuddle o'clock.

Vayda is almost potty trained, and has been doing great learning from her foster family. She's also been training her foster family to let her sleep in the bed. She has not been successful yet, but she is still learning how to convince them lol.

To Our Valued Supporters,

We hope this message finds you and your loved ones well. As we step into a new year, we want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and dedication to our mission.

As you know, our commitment at Ay Chihuahua Rescue is to focus on high-risk Chihuahua breeds, supporting local shelters by maintaining a passionate and capable foster-to-adopt network, and provide education and support for prospective adopters throughout the process, from first look to forever home. Your support has been instrumental in allowing us to fulfill this mission and create positive outcomes for countless Chihuahuas.

However, the continued inflationary pressures have significantly impacted our operational costs, including veterinary care, food, and other essential services that ensure the well-being of our furry friends. After careful consideration and in an effort to maintain the quality of care that every Chihuahua deserves, we find it necessary to adjust our adoption fees. Effective January 15th, 2025 the adoption fee for each dog will be raised to $350.

This decision was not made lightly. Our priority has always been, and will continue to be, providing the best possible care for the Chihuahuas in our rescue. We believe that this adjustment will allow us to continue our vital work without compromising on the care and support we offer to each and every dog that comes through our doors.

We understand that this increase may pose a challenge for some, but we are confident that with your continued support, we can navigate these changes together. Your generosity and commitment have been the backbone of our organization, and we truly appreciate your understanding and continued partnership in our mission.

Thank you for your compassion, kindness, and unwavering support. Together, we can continue to make a significant difference in the lives of Chihuahuas in need.

Meet Willa!

Willa comes to us from PVAS after she was hit by a car resulting in a broken leg. She was given a 48 rescue window. We emailed to tag her, and another rescue had tagged her already.

By pure fate, one of our fosters knew one of the fosters for the other rescue, Head Butt Hotel . The two happened to connect about a tiny 3 lb chi baby she was going to pick up along with her foster kitten. They had seen the plea for this tiny broken girl, and didn't want to risk her not being rescued โค๏ธ And a few hours later, they delivered the pup to us and transferred her over. We are so thankful they were able to save her, and are happy she is warm and safe!

Poor tiny Willa is very underweight, but is eating and drinking. She is very sweet and even despite everything she has been through is appreciating sweet soft pets.

More Willa pupdates to come as we meet with surgeons to discuss fixing this tiny broken leg

Meet Shiloh!

Shiloh comes to us from Abilene with her sister Uliana. They were at risk of euthanasia for being biters and were considered feral. They came from a hoarding situation, where their owner could no longer care for them, so they were put outside and they just learned to survive on their own.

Thankfully, they reached out to our Abilene foster and volunteer, Vickie, and she was able to go and be hands on and saw that they can be helped and just needed fosters who could work with them.

When Shiloh came in, her foster family was expecting a feral beastie, but to everyone's surprise she was just a shy baby who was just waiting for love!

She was nervous at the vet, but this 5 year old, 5.3 lb baby was a great patient and got a clean bill of health!!

Shiloh has been doing so well adapting to her new life, new people, and new pups. We are so thankful to Vickie and her foster family for seeing that this girl just needed a chance to be spoiled rotten and saved her life! Shiloh is learning how to potty like a good girl, and just loves to snuggle and take rides in her sling!

Shiloh is shi! She needs a moment to warm up to new people, but is very open to trusting. Shiloh is continuing to open up and love and is going to be an amazing princess to her future kingdom ๐Ÿ‘ธ๐Ÿฐ

Congratulations Gracie!

And just like that, Gracie found her family!!! After waiting and having several applications fall through, it happened in an instant, love at first sight. Gracie got to meet her new family and fur siblings and she was right at home scoping out her new dogs, and being stalked by her new lil sister.

Congrats to the happy family!!!

Ophelia Pupdate!

1 month post liver surgery, Ophi aka Psycho, is feeling better than she has probably felt in her whole 2 years of living!

She had her check up yesterday and she was soooooo excited to see her friends at SouthPaw Animal Care. As soon as Ophi meets someone new, she is convinced that they are her new best friend and she wants to climb them for alllll the kisses she can give. So you can imagine all the kisses she must give her besties at the vet that saved her little life!

This weekend, Ophelia is going to be taken off her antiseizure meds, and we will monitor to see if they are gone with the procedure. Then, if everything is good, her last check up is in one more month and hopefully she will be ready for her forever home!

Ophelia is such an amazing psycho, and we are so happy to have her feeling her best and zooming around with her foster siblings.

More pupdates to come!

*All other dogs shown are not available for adoption!*

Come on people!!! We are sooooo confused with why sweet Gracie has not been sn**ched up ๐Ÿ˜ตโ€๐Ÿ’ซ๐Ÿคจ๐Ÿค”

She has had 6 approved applicants, and all but one backed out without even getting a chance to meet her! Thankfully, sweet wiggly Gracie Lou doesn't have a clue and is just busy wigglin her best life. Even though she came from a home with 100 dogs, she is just a perfect pup! She is potty pad and outdoor trained, she loves every single person she meets, and she gets along so amazingly with other dogs. If you have a sad pup laying on a bed by themselves, Gracie will go find and spoon them, and then place her sweet head on them like a loving hug.

Gracie really does deserve the perfect family, and is patiently waiting for someone to step up and be enough for her. If that is you, and you can be there for this perfect wiggle butt, fill out an application at www.aychihuahuarescue.org/adopt

Meet Tiny Tim!

Tiny Tim comes to us from AAC. He came in to the shelter after he was taken to the emergency vet for vomiting and diarrhea. Thankfully they were able to stabilize the sweet boi and he made his way to a foster home for the holidays!

TT is approximately 13-15 weeks old, and 3.88 lbs of perfect puppy love. This leggy boi is lovingly nicknamed stilts since his leggies have hit a growth spurt and he is just the cutest klutz on 4 stilts. He has been doing a great job with routine in house breaking and will go potty outside or use his potty pad in his night pen. But he does need to have his adopter continue to work with him so that the good habits stick.

Over the holidays, TT has done amazingly well with meeting new people and pups. He travels well in the car and enjoys getting the chance to make new friends. He is still very much a teething pup and tries to be gentle, so working on making sure he gets teething time with toys and not just hands lol.

TT is just full of love and fun and is excited for the chance to meet his forever family.

Interested in Tiny Tim, fill out an application at www.aychihuahuarescue.org/adopt

Meet Rose!

Lil Rose comes to us from the euthanasia list at PVAS after she was picked up with an injury. She was able to walk, but had a limp. Her X-rays came back showing no breaks and we were able to find a foster for her. After a long ride from South Texas to Austin, she was safe!

Rose is a tiny princess at 4 lbs and is estimated to be about 6. Once we got this tiny girl in, we immediately saw bruising on both sides of her stomach from some sort of trauma. Speculation is it could have been from being hit by a vehicle or potentially some form of abuse like being kicked. While we won't ever know what caused the trauma, we are happy to say that over the last week her bruising and limping have almost completely resolved!

She is still on medical hold as we get her rechecked to see how everything is going and schedule her spay. But we are feeling hopeful that this sweet girl will be able to get better โค๏ธ

Meet Queenie McSqueaks!

Queenie comes to us from San Antonio after being put on the euthanasia list for having issues walking. Thankfully, we were able to swoop in and sn**ch up this... Possum? No, she's a baby kangaroo ๐Ÿฆ˜ .. or a mouse ๐Ÿ?!? Well, whatever Queenie is, she's ours and we couldn't be more happy to have her!

She is such a sweet senior, approximately 10-12, years old. Queenie's vet visit went really well! It looks like her hind legs are just a little weak and there is nothing to worry about with them! Nothing is pinched or broken, except for all the hearts Queenie breaks along the way ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ˜˜. She is underweight, just under 5 lbs, and has a super itchy skin infection. So doc put her on antibiotics, and foster mama is giving her lots of good food and love ๐Ÿ’• to help her get strong. Once she is ready, she will get her teefies cleaned and spay. So hopefully in January she will be a brand new dog ready for her forever family ๐Ÿ’•๐Ÿคž

Despite her royal name, Queenie McSqueaks is actually a needy shy girl. And above all, she is just sweet. One look into her mousy-kangaroo-possum eyes and she will melt your heart โค๏ธ. She loves to sleep in a curled up in a comfy bed. Queenie wouldnโ€™t mind being the only dog, she doesnโ€™t interact much with her foster siblings but gets along and will share a warm bed with them. Queenie is a frail and defenseless senior lady, so a home would need to treat her gently. She says no high energy big dogs. She isnโ€™t โ€œfeistyโ€ like a typical old chihuahua. She is very gentle and mild, but will use her sweet squeaky bark to make sure you know she loves you, and you left her sight, how dare you!

We will accept applications now, but she won't be able to go home until after she has been spayed

Interested in Queenie? Fill out an application at www.aychihuahuarescue.org/adopt.

After getting her clean bill of health from her cancer battle, lil Gracie is back on the market after her pending adoption fell through ๐Ÿ˜”.

But that's ok, this little girl will wait for the perfect family!

Gracie is house broken and potty pad trained. She is also just the most loving thing you could ever hope for. After being pulled from the Chihuahua hoard in Lockhart with 100 dogs, you would honestly never have guessed something so perfect could come from that. But Gracie is just so incredibly happy to be where she is today, in a warm home and bed, getting loved on, and cancer free! Now all she needs for her happily ever after is the perfect family โค๏ธ

Gracie is about 5-6 years old and about 7 lbs. Her blue bald spots are a generic trait, and will most likely never grow blue fur. But her skin and fur are so soft, you just have to spend all day petting and kissing her, and she wouldn't want it any other way!

Interested in Gracie? Fill out an application at www.aychihuahuareacue.org/adopt

Ophelia Pupdate!

We are a week out of surgery from having Ophelia's liver shunt surgery, and so far our little sweet girl is doing great ๐Ÿ’—. We are having to keep her sedated with pain meds so that she doesn't hurt herself or cause damage to her surgery site, but she doesn't mind having extra naps as long as she is with her humans.

She will have her first check up next week, so until then she will get lots of rest and kisses!

We are so surprised ๐Ÿ˜ฎ that Maleficent the model has not been scooped up yet!

At 8 yrs young and 8 lbs, Mal makes the perfect travel companion! After adjusting to her foster family she became the perfect pup โค๏ธ. It's hard to imagine that she had been returned to the shelter twice for bad behavior ๐Ÿ˜ฎ๐Ÿฅบ. Now, she does great meeting new people, and often goes out with her foster crew for outings.

Maleficent craves adventure and glamour ๐Ÿ˜ ๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ’„. She is looking for a family who will treat her like one of their own. Someone to take her out of the house, to a brunch, or maybe some cute boutiques, ohhh or a market! Oh, and bonus points if she has an outfit to celebrate ๐Ÿฅ‚ any event or trip.

Interested in adopting Maleficent, you should be ๐Ÿ˜‰, fill out an application at www.aychihuahuarescue.org/adopt
