How I Teach "Find It" - The go sniff and search behavior.

A short video how to teach your dog the find it cue, meaning the 'search with your nose' behavior.

This is a skill that should be taught to every puppy and dog. It can be used for many reasons throughout a dog's life span. + It's fun and helps build attention, eye contact, and recall!

Don't forget Group Training classes are coming up!

Account Update!

*on behalf of Shelly! from Jazael her web helper*:

Shelly was hacked and is locked out of Facebook.
Thankfully, Facebook helped me regain editor access to her business pages.

I was able to remove the post that hackers put up on her Lemons to Mint page, and thankfully I've not seen anything new from the hackers. I'm fairly certain they've been locked out, and her personal account seems to be offline.

Hopefully we can restore her accounts, but until further notice please get in touch with her on her website or site email below.

Keep an eye out for news on her group dog training classes in Circle C coming very soon!

Thank you!

Starting to travel again? As our country gradually opens up, the question of what to do with our pets if we don’t take them with us arises. I’m curious what choice you make, and what advice you have for others, about whether to kennel a dog or get a house sitter. Of course, both have […]

June 15, 2021 – We are seeing increasing levels of algae at Red Bud Isle. We have sent algae and water samples for testing that were collected on June 11 from Red Bud and the low water crossing near Mansfield Dam. No toxins were present in the algae sample collected June 3 from the low water crossing.

We detected low levels of dihydroanatoxin in an algae sample taken in mid-March from Lake Austin near Mansfield Dam. Trace levels were also detected in two algae samples from Lady Bird Lake. This is the same toxin that LCRA detected in other Highland Lakes earlier this year and the same one found in 2019 and 2020 in Lady Bird Lake.

At this time, we are recommending that dog owners not allow their dogs to ingest or touch algae in any area lakes, creeks or water bodies. People should also avoid the algae.

https://www.austintexas.gov/page/algae

A harmful algae bloom occurs when cyanobacteria, also called blue-green algae, produce toxins. Lady Bird Lake experienced a harmful algae bloom in 2019, which sickened and killed several dogs. Another one occurred in 2020. Current Status June 4, 2021 – Biweekly monitoring on Lake Austin and Lady B...

Dogs are not robots, drop the "e-collar" and "shock collars." Teach them the right way, the humane way with kindness respect, and empathy. No dog should ever have e-collar training especially if this is their first time training.

"Punishment is like a nuclear bomb. If the doesn't get you - the fall out certainly will." -Steve White

If you've ever found yourself in this predicament, it's time to question your knowledge about the issue and seek out new information.

*Using punishment and aversive techniques on your dog are POSITIVELY REINFORCING for you, the human, NOT the dog.

* Examples: Pain, Force, Intimidation, Shock, Prong, Chock and E-Collars, Leash Jerks or Pops, Alpha Rolls, Yelling, Hitting, Kicking, Locking up in Isolation, and withholding food and affection. *

Scary stuff... how many times have you seen these punishment-based strategies used on women and children?

Who wants to be around that? Certainly not your dog.

Build trust and communication, not fear and intimidation.🐾❤️

Well, some have mold! Yuck! Guess I'll be saying goodbye to Zukes for a while. Never a good sign when this happens.

Customers have reported mold problems, and now these natural dog treats are being removed from stores — but Zuke's says it's not a recall.
