With the recent cases of Equine Herpesvirus (EHV-1) in the central Texas area, we have carefully evaluated the situation and consulted with trusted local veterinarians to determine the best course of action to keep our barn and horses safe.
State veterinarians have deemed that the brief breakout has been 100% contained, and every individual horse from other barns that were exposed to the source facility has tested negative to the virus after their precautionary quarantine was completed.
After careful consideration, we have made the decision to go forward with our March 30th show, while taking the following precautions:
1. No overnight stabling will be offered.
2. Outside horses must bring their own water buckets and will not be permitted in any of the barns.
3. Horses will practice social distancing, especially in the arena and in the holding area.
4. The schooling ring will be exclusively used for active schooling. There will be ample walking space available in pastures for those waiting for their warm-up time.
Veterinary professionals have estimated that almost all horses carry a latent form of EVH-1 by two years of age, with no external signs of disease. If for any reason there is unease about having outside horses at the show, please do not hesitate to reach out to any of the Idylwood staff.

Did you know that your horse's back changes as it gains weight and muscle?
HRH Royal Fat F***y has developed so much muscle on her back with the conditioning work her attentive rider is doing, her saddle no longer fit!
A quick visit from Laurie MacDonald, our saddle fitter, corrected the problem, and now our Queen is ready to work!

A shout out to Madigan Maxfield for helping her teammate out. Bunny's rider was out of town so Madigan stepped up to pilot Bunny around the 2' hunters at the CTSSA show to prep the pony for CTHJA in April. Now that's teamwork!!!
