CTSSA SHOW CANCELLED - February 22nd

Even though we are super disappointed to cancel the show tomorrow, at least the forecast has continued to show that tomorrow will be a thoroughly unpleasant day to be outside. We will be receiving showers throughout the day mixed in with the high 30s temperatures. Just warm enough not to turn it into ice or snow, and just warm enough to make it absolutely miserable.

CTSSA Show @ Scissortail Cancelled

We were hoping the forecast would start to trend towards the cold rain coming thru earlier (just like the cold front did) and that the predicted Sunday temperatures (high 50s) would shift to Saturday.

Alas at this point it does not look like the case.

With the lack of riding weather this week combined with the possibility of having to ride wet and cold plus the risk of dangerous commuting conditions on the way to the show in the morning, we think it's safest for everybody to postpone this event until our makeup date. The plan is for this is to be in June, but we will be looking at calendars closely and announcing that date as soon as we can.

We were looking forward to a fun first show of the season with freshly painted poles and some fun competitors, but we hope instead everyone gets a little bit more practice and and all of the horse and barn caretakers rest after All of the hard work they put in during this freeze.

The first CTSSA show is now Idylwood on March 8th.

Glad we got to make use of the beautiful weather this week before this cold front came in. We rode, we enjoyed our horses, and even got our Hunter poles painted!

We will make a decision about our CTSSA Show by Thursday evening based on how the weather forecasts change.

Send those entries in now for the CTSSA Hunter/Jumper Show on February 22nd at scissortail.

Hunters starting at Poles going up to 2'9" in the covered arena, including two Hunter Derbies.

Jumpers starting at Poles and going to 3 ft in the grass arena. Including two ctssa sanctioned jumpers at 2'3" and 2'6".

Send those entries in now to make sure we can host this event with enough competitors. No payment required upon entry with a quick and simple online entry system.

We were lucky enough that the warm weather held for our competition on Saturday, but the last two days have been frigid and wet. We have still managed to make the best of it and keep most of the ponies feed on the ground.

Today we had one of the biggest In Hand Obstacle classes to date! Such a fun and diverse group of handlers proving that you don't have to ride a horse in order to participate in competitions! Congratulations to all of these hard-working horsemen and women for their hard work today.

What an amazing first show of the season!

As always, an absolutely wonderful group of riders, trainers, volunteers, and support staff!

It was a huge gamble to schedule this event so early in the season, but I think the gamble paid off hugely!

Our next Scissortail schooling show will be March 22nd but before that we are hosting our annual Hunter/Jumper show for CTSSA on February 22nd.
