What an amazing first show of the season!

As always, an absolutely wonderful group of riders, trainers, volunteers, and support staff!

It was a huge gamble to schedule this event so early in the season, but I think the gamble paid off hugely!

Our next Scissortail schooling show will be March 22nd but before that we are hosting our annual Hunter/Jumper show for CTSSA on February 22nd.

It's not too late to jump in the trailer and do an Obstacle course or Jumper class (or two)!

RIDE TIME ADJUSTMENTS:

Very small ride time adjustments have been made for the Intro Dressage tests.

All Dressage tests will be held in the covered arena.

All of the morning Dressage tests will be ridden in a small arena. At the lunch break, the arena will be transformed into the regular size and all Training and First Level tests will be ridden in the regular.

Jumper arena warm up times:
7 - 9:15am - ALL LEVELS
9:55-10:30am - POP XR & 2'
12:45-1:15pm - 2'3" + (flowers and oxers)

Please remember that Jumper class times are estimates and you are required to check in and be aware of how it is running.

Cross country course will be open for schooling before 10am and after 10:30 a.m. except for the water complex which will open at 1:00 p.m.

Don't forget to grab some breakfast tacos at check-in and amazing barbecue for lunch!

Send your entries in for next weekend's first show of the 2025 season and you'll get to jump freshly painted jumps!

The weather looks absolutely fabulous with a full week of perfect weather to practice, so if you are on the fence about attending please consider sending in your entry. We have low numbers at the moment and need a handful more riders in order to be able to host the event.

How could we give up the chance to start the season off well and ride in 70° weather in the middle of February?!!!!

Throughout the holiday season we like to bring out various holiday themed pole setups. This year we had two different styles of Christmas trees, a wrapped present, and a menorah. Each setup provides endless opportunities for creative pattern and pole work. Here is a fun video of just a few.

Nice lesson last night while the storm brewed in the West. Some great lightning over the barn. It's been a long time since we've seen lightning.

Sometimes it's good to be different. It can end up being pretty fun 🙂 our steeplechase contingency plan is working out quite nicely this morning.

IMPORTANT SHOW INFORMATION! Please read below and watch the video. Please watch the video for clear information about parking, warm up areas, and procedures for tomorrow's event! It's easier to show y'all than to write it in words🙂 We do not have our beloved barbecue trailer tomorrow but we will be selling tacos, snacks and drinks in the office. We are happy to have our photographer Meaghan Carr Photography - Central TX Equine Photographer out tomorrow taking photos! We had no rain today and expect that our footing will happily take up some precipitation overnight if we do get it. Rain chances for tomorrow have significantly dropped in percentage and are expected later in the morning. Please make sure to watch the video and read your ride times in detail to know where and when you have warm up availability.

A nice fast forward of one of our Novice riders breeze thru the Obstacle Phase of today's competition.

Trail-A-Thlon Phase 3 Technical pattern walkthrough. The Technical pattern is our most challenging pattern for this weekend's event. Here is a virtual walkthrough that you can watch for the next 2 days to feel more familiar with the spacing. Decorations are to come. Schooling will be open prior to the start of ride times. Ride times will be released this evening.

Hope everybody had a safe holiday yesterday and is taking advantage of the long weekend to video virtual patterns for next weekend's Trail-A-Thlon. Here is a great example of where your video should be filmed from and about how much horse and Rider you would like to keep in the frame so that the judge can clearly see what's going on. Make sure to announce your Rider at the beginning of the pattern either with speech or text overlay. Then upload your video to the Google drive file that you have received a link to in the confirmation email. If you have any trouble uploading your videos, please let us know! Tomorrow we will be releasing technical patterns so people can have a heads up of what to expect for their Phase.3. we will also release a basic list of obstacles that will be seen in the Obstacle phase.

Everyone in Texas can relate, especially those on the black clay.

Always thankful for our little covered arena in weather like this. Even though part of it has received a good bit of rain, we are still able to continue our challenging pole exercises and their progression to grid work. Don't let this clip of Sophie and Gambler fool you 🙂 the rest of the arena is filled with poles upon poles upon poles!
