Yes most of us have been looking at photos every day for the last week 🤣 a few riders are still "across the pond" but it's time to get back to normal Texas life. Thankfully we brought back the mild wet weather with us 😁

Last day in Ireland but group memories that will never be forgotten. 💚🍀🐴
You are never too young to play with friends, travel to new places, and learn new things.
Another great day in Ireland. Riding different horses can be so good for any rider to bring to light your strengths and weaknesses. Learning vacations ftw.
If you want to experience a vacation package for experienced riders we encourage you to check out Equitours for wonderful vacation options in many countries.
Day two at Castle Leslie Estate in Ireland. 7 of us came to ride, while a few husbands hit some greens.
Watch out Ireland, Scissortail ladies have arrived 🤣
Today marks the last day of the 2024 Scissortail summer camp season. It's been such a fun few months with wonderful campers, helpers, counselors, and some of the best horses around!

Hard work beats talent any day, but if you're talented and work hard, it's hard to be beat.
After a week of scorching temperatures and high humidity, it looks like we're going to get another cooling down today!
July was unexpectedly mild weathered with plenty of opportunities to ride in the middle of the day but constant rain kept us trapped in the covered arena. Now we're back to a regular August heat cycle, but if you're willing to get up bright and early, the arenas and cross country are finally dry enough to ride in and boy are they green!
WORD OF THE DAY: Growlery
For most of the people reading this, we find our's at the barn 💜🐎
We are so blessed to have so many great vets in the Central Texas area. Dr. Norton and her team are wonderful to work with and their ability to do mobile imaging is an invaluable resource. The peanut gallery at the barn this morning got to witness scoping, ultrasounds, and X-rays. We got to see a larynx, a stomach, the hind gut, liver and kidneys, neck vertebrae, and eye anatomy. Discussions were had about ulcers, eye injuries, abscesses, joint arthritis, and more! Being a barn rat provides so many, many opportunities to learn about all facets of our equine partners. Thank you to Dr. Norton and her team for not only their work, but supporting our peanut gallery habits 🙂
Stormy is so thankful for her wonderful sponsors! She's like a new kitty now that the leg is gone! Shes alert and playful and is really getting the hang of her altered propulsion system.
Thank you to everybody who has donated and sent well wishes to little Stormy. Ironically the weather has been stormy since the moment she got out of surgery. Her surgery went well and she is faring as well as expected. Nobody likes the cone of shame and waking up with one less limb than they anticipated. We still have more saddles to post this week for those interested in purchasing one to support covering her extensive vet bills. Thank you again to those that have already done so in various ways.
Stormy is patiently awaiting her amputation surgery tomorrow. 🤞 Save a kitty, buy a saddle! Here are just 4 of the saddles we have for sale to raise funds for her. More to come. Request price and more information/photos via messages.
Check out the Tack Swap going on at Dripping Springs Ranch Park & Event Center today! Scissortail has a table full of fun things to purchase!
At the beginning of this year, an adorable kitten showed up on our property ready to become our newest mouse catcher. She has not had the best of luck in her young age and due to some previous bone infection which weakened her hock joint she has suffered an irreparable break and is requiring an amputation surgery. Needless to say we will be raising funds for this kitten to receive the care that she needs to hopefully come back and become a tripod mouse killing machine. All proceeds from sales from this weekend as well as upcoming tack sales will be going towards her expenses.
Go say hi to Maddie at DSRP with our table and grab up some of our amazing items! We have Dressage saddles, jumping saddles, and Western saddles plus a whole lot more!
Summer is half way done but the fun doesn't have to end yet! Sign your young rider up for our last two camp sessions! Our covered arena and air conditioned camp house allow the fun to never stop, no matter the weather. Too much rain, or too much shine, not a problem for us!

A Quarab, a mustang, a warmblood, and a one eyed Quarter Horse. No matter what you and your horses story is you can succeed with enough devotion, support and a bit of bravery. You'll even have some fun along the way!!
More wonderful smiles at this morning's Trail-A-Thlon event!
All of the hard work, preparation, office work, logistics management, anxiety, and trepidation is worth it when you see smiles like these! All of the riders at today's event at one point or another (or the whole entire time) could be seen with ear to ear grins and seemed to be having an absolute blast!
All of our competitors know where they ended up at the end of the competition, but, did you wonder where you placed in each individual phase? Or where you fell amongst your competitors only in one of the phases? Maybe being a Novice you'd like to see where you would have fallen amongst the full Novice division and not just your group? Well, check out these full three-phase results from today's Trail-A-Thlon to learn exactly how you fell during each phase and after each phase!
A nice fast forward of one of our Novice riders breeze thru the Obstacle Phase of today's competition.

Trail-A-Thlon Phase 3 Technical pattern walkthrough. The Technical pattern is our most challenging pattern for this weekend's event. Here is a virtual walkthrough that you can watch for the next 2 days to feel more familiar with the spacing. Decorations are to come. Schooling will be open prior to the start of ride times. Ride times will be released this evening.
Hope everybody had a safe holiday yesterday and is taking advantage of the long weekend to video virtual patterns for next weekend's Trail-A-Thlon. Here is a great example of where your video should be filmed from and about how much horse and Rider you would like to keep in the frame so that the judge can clearly see what's going on. Make sure to announce your Rider at the beginning of the pattern either with speech or text overlay. Then upload your video to the Google drive file that you have received a link to in the confirmation email. If you have any trouble uploading your videos, please let us know! Tomorrow we will be releasing technical patterns so people can have a heads up of what to expect for their Phase.3. we will also release a basic list of obstacles that will be seen in the Obstacle phase.
Always thankful for our little covered arena in weather like this. Even though part of it has received a good bit of rain, we are still able to continue our challenging pole exercises and their progression to grid work. Don't let this clip of Sophie and Gambler fool you 🙂 the rest of the arena is filled with poles upon poles upon poles!
We have a big group moved in today for the Dripping Springs Ranch Park Riding Series Hunter Jumper show. We have our biggest group in quite a few years which is super exciting and we have riders in every division from Pile of Poles to 2'9". Good luck to all of the riders competing this weekend, and not only ours!
Don't forget to be proud of yourself for what you have done so far. Don't compare yourself to others. And enjoy the journey, and your horse.
Thank you to everybody who is helping make sure everything runs smoothly this morning. It's not our usual setup but everybody is doing their job helping us out, being patient and most of all having fun!
Please watch this video and read all of the following information: The covered arena will be CLOSED from 1:30-2:15pm for dragging before the large court tests are judged in it. Our BBQ concessions stand will be with us all day, serving breakfast tacos, and delicious lunch items! DO NOT CROSS UNDER A LINE OF FLAGS!! When coming from the parking area, you will be required to walk full circle around the Gallop track, which is flagged off, either north or south to proceed to the office, dressage arena, or covered arena/trail course. We will have riders on the galloping track until noon and you do not want to get run over and ruin someone's ride! Parking: We expect lots of trailers so request that early morning trailers pull all the way into the tree line where the cross country usually starts. Please park close together and perpendicular to the driveway in three rows. There will be an alley designated for entrance and exiting. No trailers past the Dressage arena unless otherwise instructed by management. If you must drive past the Dressage arena in cars or trailers, please do so extremely slowly and carefully. There is no parking for trailers past the Dressage arena and spectator parking is intermingled with trailer parking. Eventing: All Eventing Dressage tests will be held in the small court in front of the office. Due to the hybrid galloping track setup, the only entrance into the warm up/stadium arena will be manned by volunteers and can be found on the road side of the stadium arena next to the tree. (see video) We ask that only trainers/riders enter the flagged. All spectators must be on the outside of the flags/galloping track. We understand that this limits spectator visibility of the stadium arena, but for our riders safety this is just how this show has to go. Your spectators will have a lovely view of you going around your galloping track cross country! Once you enter the warm up for your stadium round, we ask that you stay inside the flags until your r
Gymnastics have been a good way to keep jumping but offer lots of down time to keep heartrates and body temperatures in check. Here Daelynn and Java make it look easy ❤️
And how it ended! We are so happy with the springiness of the arena and extremely impressed in the quality of rubber that Premier Equestrian has provided.
Such a fun, successful, and huge event that we had the pleasure to run today! Huge shout out to my cross country team for running one of our biggest Eventing turnouts so smoothly. Thank you to all the competitors and trainers as always for being so pleasant and a pleasure to provide our services too. Thank you to our judges, our photographer, and our delicious barbecue trailer! This was the last schooling show of our series until the fall, but we have two super exciting events coming up in June; the TrailAthlon and our Hunter Jumper show! We hope to see everybody there!
Good jumping riders know that course quality isn't made in the air but instead it's built between the jumps. The same applies to cross country jumping. Making sure your horse has ridability in-between the jumps is crucial to a safe round. Here we are practicing manoeuvrability in the water, making sure our horse isn't just running us thru to the other side.
One of my favorite exercises that works for riders of all speeds including working in hand: The turn-on-the-forehand Christmas tree. 🎄🎄
Dragging can be a challenge for many horses but a house that can drag is also less likely to be spooky at objects moving in the ground. It's a great skill to work on for every horse, even if they will never drag anything around. Start first on the ground with simple items like this log, and then experiment with other items like jugs of rocks, tarps, or even old toddler push toys. Sarah and Boomer show us a great run of the drag obstacle yesterday.
