Helping food guarders get happy about people approaching their food bowls.
Raya growls when her human comes anywhere near her bowl. Instead of punishing her for the behavior, we’re doing something more effective — pairing our approach with something Raya likes even more than the kibble in her bowl. That happens to be warm morsels of juicy chicken. We’re still at the beginning of a fairly elaborate training plan, but already Raya is showing a happy response to our approaching her bowl. Good girl, Raya ❤️

Mom getting to pet her dog for the first time!
From the day she was adopted, Rosie has been uncomfortable being touched. We’re working to get her more relaxed being stroked by her humans — pairing morsels of chicken with each approach of the hand, going at the dog’s pace so she doesn’t feel upset. The muzzle keeps everyone safe just in case we go too fast.

We’re teaching this nugget a “Quiet, please” when someone comes to the door and to keep 4 on the floor when guests enter. To her dad, who works from home, these are super useful behaviors for his pup to have.

Spending a few minutes at the end of a session teaching Beau to bow on cue. This pupper has so much star material. Sometimes we fit in crowd-pleasing tricks just for fun.

First day of training! Goose is a perfect lady except around other dogs on walks when she looks like Cujo. We’re teaching Goose behaviors that are incompatible with barking, lunging and carrying on. Here she’s learning Leave It. In a couple of weeks, we’ll be able to use Leave It on walks to get Goose to focus away from other dogs and onto things that don’t stress her out. This will make outings waaay less stressful for her dad.

Look who’s ready for class! Ivy is mastering all the puppy things, including here a solid down-stay, so her peeps can take her anywhere. The pup is a super star.

Learning all the puppy stuff! Sit-stays, polite greetings, to your mat, drop it, leave it, potty training, come when called! 14-week-old Dandelion is mastering it all. Also, isn’t she adorable?
