This woman right here deserves so much recognition! Summers for us are insanely busy with traveling to horse shows almost every weekend, lessons, and non stop work on the farm. Amy Ewers is the one behind the scenes taking care of everything while we are busy and away. Finding someone you can trust that is just as dedicated to the animals as you are, is hard. Beginning this Sunday, January 14th, we will be offering open arena time to the public. With winter now upon us, we are hoping this helps people that are still wanting to keep their horses legged up, be able to do so out of the snow and cold. The arena will be open Sundays from 10am-4pm.

*Current coggins must be shown before unloading
*A release form must be signed
*The fee is $10 per horse
*PLEASE be respectful of the property, management, and other riders, or this will be short lived. We ask that you clean up all manure your horse may leave in and out of the arena.
-tying to your trailer or the tie rings on the posts in the arena are acceptable. Please do not tie to stalls, or the wood fence of the arena.
-If your horse likes to paw or dig, please leave tied to your trailer.
-leave the arena and barn the way you found it. (Gates and doors shut, lights off)

Group Lesson #2! This will be a follow-up to the group lesson in April, but don’t think you had to be here in April to join us in May! Yes, I will build on what everyone was working on then, but I work with each individual on where they are with their horse so anyone can come. I enjoy working with people and horses on all different levels so that I can show you how all of the steps are related. Saturday May 27, at 11:00am. This will be limited to no more than 6 people. Content will appeal to anyone interested in horsemanship first, (real horsemanship… the art of a willing connection while working with your horse, not a pattern class) and content will be tailored to each individual horse/handler partnership. This can be done either in hand or under saddle. No matter where you are in your journey with your horse, you’ll benefit. (And if you don’t think your horse will do well in a group lesson, you need to be at this group lesson.) $60 per horse, $10 deposit to secure your spot due by Monday, May 15. All horses participating must have proof of current negative coggins. Text or PM me if you’re interested in holding a spot.

In case you can’t understand why your horse spooks at the bush/hose/flag/whatever it is that he/she has passed 100 times before, this explains why. Know better, do better.

I had to share this juicy and digestible tidbit for my non reading friends out there 📖 🐴 👀

Categorical Perception:
The natural tendency to organize sights, sound, taste, touch, and smell. The human brain categorizes different physical views into one group automatically (a door will look like a door to us in all angles). We group separate items instantly without thinking.

Equine brains don’t have much categorical perception. This is why they notice and spook at items that we would group in one category (hose they walk by every day, to us it’s just a hose but to them the way the hose hanging IS different each day).

When we say the horse has seen this a million times, he hasn’t. He’s seen a slightly different view of the object many different times. We are the one whose brains assumes those different views all represent the same object.

Their lack of categorical perception is one of the reasons horses don’t need to have precise visual acuity or great hearing, their brains notice tiny differences instead which allows them to survive.

What does an energy work session look like?

The sessions themselves, me working on your horse, range from about 20-45 minutes. Prior to the work, if you’d like, we will chat a bit about your goals for the session. While working on your horse, I will not do a lot of talking/explaining because it is important for me to stay focused on what I feel as I move through the different energy centers. I will do an initial body scan, then move back to each area and begin focused work. During the scan I will most typically use my hands, I may follow up with a pendulum for verification. During the focused work at each energy center, I will either use my hands or a stone sphere to massage the area to either get the energy there moving again, or increase/slow down what is moving at that energy center. At the conclusion of the work, I will scan the body again to assure changes in the right direction have been made. I will take a minute to record what I found for your records and make recommendations for work you can continue to do with your horse. At this time you can fee free to ask questions and discuss.

Below is a form for feedback from a session completed yesterday. This is a horse who will highly benefit from continued sessions.
