Let’s talk training dogs with disabilities…
Is it different? Yes! Is it impossible? Heck no!!
Ruger here is a 5 month old English Setter who is fully deaf right from birth. Many people might ask, how the heck do you communicate with a dog who can’t hear anything?!? The same way you talk to a person who is hard of hearing…sign language.
Many of my clients are used to hearing me say we can teach a dog obedience to any word as long as we teach them the definition of that word. It’s the same with sign language. As long as we teach the dog the definition of the hand signal, it’s the same as us speaking to them.
At only 5 months old, Ruger here gets to enjoy an off leash life because of his hand signal training and the use of a mini educator Ecollar to be able to communicate with him from a distance.
Have a dog with a disability? Want to get training, but don’t know where to start? Give us a call today or shoot us a message and mention this post about Ruger to get 10% off ANY of our training packages for your pup with disabilities!

How do we handle 3 (4) month old St. Bernedoodle puppies at once?!?
Well…training.
Remember, these pups are all littermates who are here for training at the same time. While they are adorable and cute and we would love to do nothing but watch them play all day… they need manners and boundaries. Watch as trainer Meagan does individual callouts into a duration down on place!
Good job kiddos!
Bernie & Portia are getting ready to graduate tomorrow and Shakespeare will be graduating on Wednesday. They’ve put in 110% effort and we couldn’t be more proud.

Drop off day can be scary for clients. They’re dropping off a member of their family for 1, 2, or 3 weeks.
Let’s take a look at what happens on drop off day when you first leave.
Mack just got dropped off for his 2 week board and train. He’s got a lot of energy and even more ball drive. Trainer Meagan utilized the tennis balls to build a bond between the two of them, but also start implementing structure in with his play.
Play will be utilized during his entire stay with us, but even more on drop off day to make sure he settles in flawlessly.
Look at that tail always wagging!
Oliver is crushing his training and having SO much fun at the same time.
Yesterday, he went on a Halloween hike with 6 of his best friends. While his buddies were running around being maniacs, he kept his composure through his commands perfectly.
Way to go, Oliver!
Enjoy this 30 second clip of Finn resting up before his big turnover tonight.
I’d say he’s pretty comfortable! Rest up buddy, you’ve got a lot to show your family 🩵
We get asked all the time…”What does my dog do when they’re not training during a board and train?”
Well… they’re playing, socializing, and relaxing with their trainer.
Here, Apollo, the 5 month old Doberman puppy shows off trainer Meagan’s (and his now) favorite game; TUG!
Tug is such an important form of play for dogs. It gets their energy out and builds confidence. Remember that scared and under-socialized doberman?!?! Well look at him now!! The important thing is to rotate who “wins” the game. Teach them to be confident in their abilities, but also teach them to release the toy.
Good boy Apollo!
Do you have a dog that is CRAZY with food?
Watch as Diesel holds his down on place with food all around him as trainer Meagan leaves him unsupervised for a period of time.
This all has to do with impulse control which will carry over into all sorts of environments and situations.
Does your dog need help with impulse control? Give us a call today and find out how we can help!

Good job Milo!
