These girls have been outdoing themselves!
My husband was holding this beauty in his hand today and said “I have something you’ve been waiting for!” And hands me this beautiful egg! I have to give a huge shout out to The Back 40 Acres, LLC for all my wonderful ladies! My gorgeous BCM and olive eggers came from her, and I’m still in shock with how these eggs look!

We knew our ladies were laying! But we couldn’t find the eggs! My husband put on his boots and searched! 😂 They were laying in the weeds right behind their coop! And he found the mother load!! And one special lady is laying that I’ve been waiting for!

Out of 14 grown chickens we have 1 layer! An amberlink and now she is called “big momma” she is sweet and docile and her eggs are huge! And they have all been double yolks so far! I know it will eventually end, but man they are gorgeous!

P.S Don’t mind the white paint on my hand, I was painting trim for the new coop! 😉

I’ve been busy doing little things! The big think I did was pickle some 🥒 pickles! And they are amazing! Fresh garlic and dill! They have won the approval of husband and daughter! Thank you The Back 40 Acres, LLC for the cucumbers!!

We not only have outside dinosaurs 🦖, we have indoor little raptors as well!
These are parrotlets! The smallest parrots. They talk and whistle and all around have napoleon syndrome! 😂

I think they like the new feeder, but unsure of the movement! 😂 It holds 30 pounds of feed, so no filling the feeder daily!

This is my little Phyllis Diller!! She is a gorgeous Mars Bar hen from The Back 40 Acres, LLC
She is definitely vibrant and funny just like the OG Phyllis Diller!

I’m unable to walk downstairs at this moment. Due to the spinal surgery.

So hubby goes down, takes care of the littles and sends pictures.. The babies are getting so big!

I’m not home yet, I’m still in the hospital.

So Carl sends me a picture of this little cutie pie! They came in today, a special breed that lays blue eggs. And has an amazing back story.

I am not home to take and share photos right now of our beautiful little ladies!
I had my 2nd spinal fusion yesterday, so I will be out of commission for a little bit. But my wonderful husband and daughter will be attending to the flock!
I’ll ask them to grab some photos to share!

We have some baby chicks 🐣 arriving of some amazing breeds! I’ll definitely have him getting photos of those cuties when they arrive!

This is Big Bert (BCM) with one of his hens, I call her Baby. She is a barred rock and is beyond the sweetest chicken ever. Big Bert came from The Back 40 acres. He is the sweetest, laziest rooster I have ever owned!
And when he runs, he looks like he has oversized flip flops on!

Welcome to my little farm! We will have fresh eggs soon!!

I will have some very beautiful chickens in the near future, I am beyond excited for this journey!! I am also applying for my NPIP certification soon!

What does NPIP mean?

The NPIP, or National Poultry Improvement Plan, is a voluntary program overseen by the USDA that monitors flocks and hatcheries. At the basic level, a chicken hatchery with an NPIP certification has been tested and found to be clean of Salmonella, Mycoplasma and low-path Avian Influenza diseases.
