This past week has been so very busy, 3 huge events, 2 of which I was helping with were on the same day.
Thank you to everyone who came out and watched the bird show on Saturday! I was smiling ear to ear through the whole show. Seeing these incredible creatures using their intelligence to its fullest extent just makes me so incredibly happy.

With everything that’s been going on since the storm, yard cleanup, trying to replace all the lost food, emails that still need to be sent,…. It’s things like these and people like Lindsey that help to wash away that stress.
Lindsey gifted this awesome little guy to me and it was honestly so much fun to build him, I think I may be addicted to Lego sculptures now as a form of stress relief!
As soon as construction is done and the rescue can open in its new home, he is going front and center on my desk!

Good morning! I am a little late on a hurricane Milton post but the birds and myself are okay! We were without power and internet for a few days, and since then we have been in cleanup mode.
Unfortunately the hurricane did damage my outdoor aviaries as well as my storage shed where I kept food, toys, and supplies that have now been lost to the storm.
Of course the most important thing is that the birds made it through the storm safe and sound.
What’s left to do now is figure out what can and cannot be repaired and replacing food, toys, and supplies.
Please let me know if you and your birdies made it safe through the storm!

The day has finally come! The Budgies are available for adoption!

These cuties are available as same s*x pairs or groupings with the exception of Martha and Maxwell who are special needs and will both need a cage setup that accommodates their foot and leg issues.

There are 8 boys and 2 girls who are non special needs and can be in regular housing set ups.

Facial jewelry and birds…. Not always the best combination. Skittles did indeed take my nose ring out and had no intention of giving it back. After some negotiations and bribery I can happily report that I was allowed to have my nose ring back for now.

Red's Auto Options, LLC. Is holding their grand opening as well as a kick off for their first annual Main Street Showdown on November 2nd.
This event will be side by side to Charm City Odyssey’s event that you will absolutely want to check out!
Angel’s Wings will have donation boxes set up at both events for people to bring fruits/veggies/toys/perches/food. If you have any questions about the boxes or events please feel free to reach out to me!
I am so excited for both of these events and have been working hard with both organizations to help make them the best that they can be. I will be attending both events to meet and greet and enjoy the shows. Don’t worry, you won’t miss me! Chances are I’ll be wearing something bird related 🦜

Say hello to Martha!
Martha was a part of the 19 budgie relinquishment to the rescue a few weeks back. After some observations it appeared that Martha has some pretty bad arthritis in her feet (notice her back toes curling around the top of the perch with her front toes, instead of wrapping around the bottom of the perch as they should). Arthritis can occur for a number of reasons in parrots but most commonly it is seen in older parrots who received poor nutrition and a lack of variety in perches.
We don’t know the exact reason for Martha’s arthritis but we do know that she is still a happy go lucky girl who manages to get around pretty dang well! Due to the arthritis Martha has different housing requirements than your typical budgerigar. When Martha is available for adoption she will need to go into a home that is knowledgeable in handicapped bird care or is willing to learn in order to provide her with the best care possible.

Being able to take your bird with you everywhere you go is a well sought after aspect of parrot ownership. How can this be done in a safe and effective way is the question asked by many owners.
Wing clipping is a very common method of “restraint” to prevent birds from flying off. This method has been practiced since the origins of bird ownership. However, it is incredibly harmful to a birds mental and physical health. Clipping of the flight feathers on the wings does not guarantee your bird will not be able to fly. If your bird were to slip off your arm or a perch they now have no way to save themselves before hitting the ground.
A safer and healthier option for taking parrots outdoors is harness training! Just as we put dogs on a leash, we should be putting our birds on a leash if they are not properly recall and flight trained. As with any animal it requires plenty of patience and training for harness wear. Keeping our birds safe and happy is our number one priority. Angel’s Wings offers one on one harness training workshops so you can safely take your bird out too!
