We have a little story to share about our girl Penny.

Have you ever had a really bad ear infection? They’re painful, right? Imagine having severe infections in both ears all your life with golf ball sized masses growing out of each ear.
That’s what life has been like for Penny, a very cute little Yorkshire Terrier, estimated to be 4 years old. She has lived with this pain and discomfort for nearly all of her 4 years. She was a breeder dog at a puppy mill and, of course, did not receive any treatment for her illness. She was just made to produce puppies, no matter how agonizing her daily life might be.

Penny was recently “rejected” by her breeder and came to Misty Eyes for help. Despite her pain, she is a very friendly, sweet little dog who deserves so much more than her previous owners gave her. Her disease is called End Stage Otitis Externa. This could have been prevented if only she had received medical care for her ear infections earlier in her life.

To heal Penny, and to give her a life free from ear pain and headaches, she will require TECA-BO surgery – Total Ear Canal Ablation and Bulla Ostectomy. Penny’s ear canals will be removed, hopefully leaving her ear flaps. As a result of the surgery, Penny’s ears will be closed, so she’ll never experience another ear infection or require ear cleaning. The surgery must be performed in two stages because it is too risky to remove both ear canals at the same time. Needless to say, this is going to be a costly medical treatment for Penny, possibly as much as $12,000. We are looking for some help.

We don’t often ask our supporters to help, but Penny is a special case. She’s a young dog who has known nothing but living in filth and having puppies. If you can help, any amount will be very much appreciated. We know that Penny will feel so much better and can finally begin to live life as a fun, happy, playful little Yorkie girl.

Hope trying to help get the word out about our Rummage sale for this Whiskers Wednesday. The sale will be held at the Hendricks County Fairgrounds Small Animal Barn (first barn across from the post office). Mark your calendars - Thursday, August 29, 8 am-3 pm; Friday, August 30, 8 am-3 pm; Saturday, August 31, 8 am-1 pm.

We will be accepting donations at the Fairgrounds only on Tuesday 8/27, from 1 to 7 pm and on Wednesday 8/28 from 9 am to 5.

We can accept good to new condition baby and children's clothing, household items, collectables, pet items, outdoor, toys, tools, etc.

We are unable to accept other clothing, furniture, large appliances, tvs, electronics, or computers.
Thank you.

Hope is a 5-year-old pretty tiger female cat, and she is not a kitty who likes much human contact. She gets along fine with other cats, but is not welcoming to humans. She is looking for a forever home, perhaps as a shop-kitty, where she can remain an indoor kitty, but not be expected to interact with people very much.

She is spayed, up-to-date on vaccinations and FIV/FeLV negative. If you might have a place in your home or business for a cat who just wants to hang out without much interaction, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

Jackie says, “I’m ready for lunch! Where should we go?” Jaggers of course! Join us Wednesday, August 21 at Jaggers Restaurant on Rockville Road. Come by for lunch or dinner and much on some burgers to help out Misty Eyes.

Jackie is a handsome one-year-old male tabby cat who was found as a stray. He wasn't microchipped, and no owner came forward to claim him, so his finder brought him to Misty Eyes to find a forever home.

He is a shy and nervous boy who will need a patient and understanding adopter while he adapts to a new home and begins to feel safe and comfortable. If you'd like to meet Jackie, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication

Stanley says, “This is not a drill! The Misty Eyes next dine to donate is tomorrow!” Join us Wednesday, August 21 at Jaggers Restaurant on Rockville Road. Come by for lunch or dinner and much on some burgers to help out Misty Eyes.

Stanley came to Misty Eyes with his littermates to find a forever home. He's a 7 month old adorable black-and-white pup, thought to be a Lab-mix. He was adopted, but was recently returned due to the owner's health.

He's living in a foster home with other dogs and has done well learning about potty habits and being a "good boi." If you'd like to meet Stanley, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

Sadie wanted to make sure that everyone was ready for the Dine to Donate happening this Thursday at Jaggers Restaurant on Rockville Road. Join us on Wednesday, August 21 for some burgers and help out Misty Eyes.

Isn't this little girl adorable? Sadie and her siblings came to us from an over-crowded shelter. We did not see either parent, so the breed mix is a guess.

These pups are only about 11 weeks old, and Sadie is already 18 lbs. She's a fun-loving pup who wants to be friends with everyone she meets.

If you'd like to meet Sadie, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

Mystery wants to wish everyone a HappyBlack Cat Appreciation Day! She is just one of our black beauties who is looking for her fur-ever home.

Mystery is just over kind year old, all black female kitty who came to Misty Eyes very pregnant. She's had her kittens and raised them well, so now she's ready for a forever home of her own.

Mystery is a very nervous, shy girl who is still learning to trust humans. It has taken some time, but she is starting to be more social, playing with other cats in her foster home and enjoying being petted by the family members. If you have the time and patience to give Mystery the time she needs to feel safe and secure, please consider becoming her forever home.

Please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

This Tongue Out Tuesday we have an an exciting update about a name you may remember- Journey. You may remember that this former puppy mill pup had us looking all over Brownsburg, Avon and Speedway for her. Well, we have an exciting update from her fur-ever family to share with you all! 🐾🐶

“She has become a wonderful addition to our home. We did rename her to Harper, and she has adjusted perfectly! Overall, she has been exactly what we expected. Her and Tom (our other doodle) get along well, they run around in their yard together, they sleep together. Of our two cats, one in particular has become an amazing nap buddy for her.

Pretty much every time we come home she’s asleep on the couch with him. While she’s usually a chill dog, the sight of her harness and leash gets her up and moving immediately. She loves walks and will whine and whine until she’s outside walking with you. Her tail never stops wagging, she’s always walks with us and pretty much never gets scared as long we are there.

Even when we have people over she hangs in the bedroom for a few minutes before deciding to come out, where she receives all the love and attention she can get. She especially loves to snuggle, where every night you will find her between Landen and I. She also LOVES treats, especially those from three dogs bakery.

We want to thank you for allowing us to take her in. She is an amazing dog, who has done nothing but grow since entering our lives. We love her to no end and could not imagine our lives without her.”

It’s August and we have two dine to donates planned. Katydid wanted to introduce the first one - Jaggers Restaurant on Rockville Road. Join us on Wednesday. August 21 for some burgers and help out Misty Eyes.

Meet Katydid! This pretty one year old tiger-and-white girl came to Misty Eyes when pregnant. She delivered and raised her kittens and is now ready for a home of her own.

She's a friendly, affectionate kitty with great litterbox habits. She is young enough to still enjoy playing and likes getting pets and rubs. Katydid is at Nine Lives Cat Cafe in downtown Indy (Fountain Square) until August 20. If you'd like to meet her, please visit the Cafe's web site and make a reservation (https://ninelivescatcafe.com/).

Meet Einstein! This handsome boy was surrendered to an overcrowded high-kill shelter, so Misty Eyes brought him in and placed him in foster care. He was adopted, but was found to be a bit too much for the family to handle, so he's come back.

Einstein is two-years old and is a big, lovable guy who prefers women over men, and his foster mom has been working with him to overcome his fear of men. Einstein is not aggressive, but has a big bark that can be very intimidating. He loves his dog siblings and is fine with the cats in the home.

He needs a very patient adopter to help him to continue to learn to trust men. A fenced yard is best for Einstein. He is a large guy and powerful guy. A DNA test was performed, and Einstein, surprisingly, is German Shepherd/Mastiff/Poodle/Shih Tzu.

Are you the one to give Einstein a permanent home? If you'd like to meet Einstein, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.

We brought in these 4 sweet dogs from a puppy mill this week. Adorable and tiny Penny could sure use our good thoughts and prayers as she was in the worst shape with these horrible ear tumors. I have never seen ears that bad, and I have seen some really bad ears!! Thank you Brownsburg Animal Clinic for getting her squeezed into your very busy schedule today! We are working on making a plan to help her with the list of things making this poor dog uncomfortable right now but she is as sweet as they come! Another dog from this same group, Sicily had a pyometra, so we are grateful that Low Cost in Brownsburg was able to spay her today. If you are not familiar with that condition, it can become deadly very quickly with little to no warning. Why were we able to help these littles? We had awesome fosters that stepped up and someone willing to make the drive and bring them to us as well as our donors and supporters that make it financially possible! None are available for adoption just yet, as they are learning about "normal dog life" but will be soon! Please watch our website. We will update on our girl Penny.

On International Cat Day, Callie decided she wanted to share with everyone that we will be having a rummage sale. Donations will be accepted at the Fairgrounds on 8/27 from 1:00-7:00 and 8/28 from 9:00-5:00.

Callie is a two-year old beautiful kitty who came to us pregnant. She has not, so far, enjoyed being picked up or cuddling with her foster family.

Callie is looking for someone who can be patient and give her some space and time to get comfortable. If you'd like to meet Callie, please submit an adoption application online at https://www.mistyeyes.org/adoptionapplication.
